Apparently Tagliafico is their number one target and they want to bring in an experienced player who can slot straight into the team. They may face some stern competition for him though. Interesting to see where they do go for a Chilwell replacement, but it certainly seems Lewis isn't at the top of their list currently.

Chelsea's bid to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City in a £50m deal could collapse on Monday, with the 23-year-old England defender set to visit a specialist over his heel injury. (Sun)

Chilwell is currently injured with his heel, the medical was always going to be a longer one due to it - most reliable sources (i.e. not The Sun) say it will be done later this week and it is just a standard precaution. Think this is just a tabloid story trying to stir things up.

That would actually be an excellent move for him and with our links to Holland.....

Arsenal fans are talking up Max Aarons to Arsenal at the moment.   Anyone heard anything other than mutterings on twitter to back this up ?

It because they are about to sell Maitland-Niles, who is their 2nd choice right back. No actual links or evidence Arsenal are interested.

Have we taken Famewo, Gilmour etc with the squad (or any others) does anyone know?

I see we had two different 11s today plus Aarons and Lewis not involved plus Hugill watching.

No Gilmour, he’s carrying a back injury and will be going on loan. I assumed Famewo would be there, but as Tettey came on as centre back today it suggest he didn’t travel - or also has a knock.

Nothing in this. They've just signed Cedric to be back up to Hector Bellerin.

That's Stiepermann off then. No sense keeping him on the bench if Dowell is an upgrade, hell just block the younger player's progress.....

I don't know about that pair specifically but it is a grind of a season with 15 midweek league games, plus cup games if we make some progress there. Finance permitting, the idea seems to have two decent players for every position. People will get injured and get suspended. At the moment we seem overloaded further back in midfield.

We have huge depth atm. Stiepermann, Hanley, Aarons, Lewis, Famewo, Sinani all didn't play today plus Hugill to come in. Then we're looking at an additional CB. That ignores Leitner, Trybull and Drmic of course. Must be some to leave soon.

No. Well, at least not at this point.

We have to remember that whilst we have new signings we have also been proactive in this window. That is to say that although we have not lost any of our prized assets yet it still remains to be not 'if' but 'when'.

As it often is, it takes a couple of big moves before the dominoes start to fall. Chilwell to Chelsea is one, Leicester will have cash to splash and will be in need of a new left back. Nothing solid yet but having done business with already with Maddison it could well be they return for another proven youthful talent.

Same could be said for Godfrey. A few clubs around Europe are looking at the current best performing CB's and the ones that sell will hunt for the next up and coming reasonably priced CB to invest in and do the same with. Godfrey is likely to fit into that bracket. Same with Aarons, Cantwell and Buendia. Buendia has already played in Spain too so that could prove attractive to Spanish teams.

Paddy said on the live stream today that he wouldn't expect all of them to go but it is also doubtful that we will see the end of the transfer window with them all still here.

It's also worth noting that the international window closes sooner than the domestic one this season. So it could be that Premier League clubs focus on international targets first then move to those on their doorstep after. It looks like we have prepared for it either way.

So if none of the "Big 5" go, then what? We have over 30 players competing for 11 spots. Do you think we have a plan B where the likes of Mumba, Mcallam and co get loaned out?

I believe Cedric was on loan there with the option to buy (it may have been compulsory I'm not sure). There are some vague rumours of Bellerin to PSG as well.

Arsenal need to be very creative in this window so it's not out of the realm of possibilities they sell maintland-niles and bellerin and bring in Aarons to compete with Cedric. Aarons defitnely an upgrade on Maitland-Niles and they're due to get £20m plus for him.

I would love us to keep Aarons but it would be the biggest surprise out of all our youngsters if he was to stay. There's a serious lack of quality RBs out there at the moment.

What do you expect £3-5 mil to get you in this day and age? Top championship strikers are valued at £20m

It was a genuine question. I haven't followed championship striker prices for a while. Can't think of many who have sold in recent years and what price they went for.

Benik Afobe went to Stoke last year for £12m

Helder Costa cost £15m this summer

Che Adams £15m from Birmingham to Southampton

WBA paid £8m for Kenneth Zohore (!)

Brentford are holding out for £20m for their two strikers. QPR are rumoured to want £15m for Eberechi Eze.

Whether you think Hugill is right for us or not, £2.6m rising to £5m with add-ons for a bloke who scored 13 league goals last season is a small outlay in comparison.

Now its done, we will see. Seems a nice lad, knows the champs, £2.6m not an enormous outlay if he falls flat, won't care about the add-ons if he scores a handful of goals that take us up.

Bigger question is how Farke manages Pukki, Idah and him into what looks like one place in the team.

A pleasant problem to have with Idah getting chances Initially in cup games. Pukki was off colour in the the last third of the Premiership campaign and needs the competition via Hugill right now. 40 goals+ from the trio this season should equal promotion I’d imagine.

I wonder if a loan move for Idah might be something the club are considering. In his interview about Hugill arriving Farke lists Sinani as one of the striker options.

I guess it is similar to Cantwell last summer - the club were thinking of loaning him out but his development jumped massively in pre-season and they realised they had to keep him. If Idah impresses in pre-season and the first month of the season then they’ll keep him around. If not, 40 games at a League One club could be the spark his development needs.

Suggested this the other day because, as you mention, a full season playing could be huge for his development, especially at such an important time in his career.

How much playing time will he realistically get with us behind Pukki and Hugill? Throw in Sinani and the minutes are reduced further.

Michael Bailey, however, appears to have dismissed this idea in his Athletic piece today: "Teemu Pukki will complete Norwich’s forward options for their EFL Championship campaign alongside Idah and Hugill."

I don’t think Idah is 3rd choice per se. I think there will be games where Idah is needed and some where Hugill is needed. Idah is probably more similar to Pukki so would be a straight swap, while Hugill would require a different system/tactic to get the best out of him. I have  a sneaky suspicion that Hugill might be the starting striker against Huddersfield while Pukki is eased back into form.

At the moment I don’t think a loan is the plan for Idah, but things can change during pre-season. The biggest example of that, as I mentioned, is Cantwell going from potential loan out/squad depth to weekly starter.

We also saw it with Remi Matthews a couple of seasons back. Was given the chance to impress during preseason, but didn’t and Krul was brought in. Just due to the shorter gap between seasons this year, I think Idah would be given until at least October and some appearances off the bench to impress.

The lack of pre-season minutes so far for Lewis and Cantwell (plus to a degree Aarons although he came on v MK) is interesting. As far as i am aware those two have not featured at all so far whereas Emi seems to have been quite involved in the two games.

Makes you wonder if those are the two we are preparing to lose.

Or why not a Champs club like Derby or QPR (to randomly name a couple) that desperately need better options up front?? I suppose Idah is unproven to get such a loan move + helps our competition? I don’t know much about how the thinking/process works ...

Cantwell played the second half yesterday.

Ah right, didn't realise that. Still had a fairly low key start to pre-season though.

I don;t see why the club can;t stream these friendlies so we have a better idea of what is going on. Given there are no friendlies that fans can attend and that they film them anyway it wouldn't take much for them to let us have a stream.
