They're all too cowardly to admit that they were fooled by the brexit bollox brigade lead by bumbling-bollox-in-chief Boris. Expect Swindon to remind us shortly that Nissan didn't leave (hurrah! it only took a bribe of multi-millions of tax-payers money to get them not to do something they wouldn't have even contemplated doing had brexit not happened). Bill 1,788 Posted February 21, 2021 "A Sussex pharmaceutical company has told how it had to bundle a production line into a white van and take it to Amsterdam to beat a Brexit medicines ban." "Cooke said Mediwin was being forced to lay off 45 people in the UK. “We were going to invest in a site in the UK a couple of years ago we we needed to expand. That £2m investment has gone to Spain. We’ve got a fabulous new production facility which will come online in Barcelona, in two or three months time,” she said." The continuing loss of jobs, tax revenue and investment should demonstrate that this is merely the beginning, as UK businesses are forced abroad so as to survive. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/feb/21/sussex-medicines-firm-takes-production-line-abroad-white-van-beat-brexit-ban
Bill 1,788 Posted February 22, 2021 Now it is the turn of Cornish 'farmers' 'The world’s largest daffodil grower, which is based in Cornwall, is having to let hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of flowers rot following Brexit.' https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/brexit-forces-worlds-largest-daffodil-5029137nd as the growing season And, as the growing season progresses this will be the cry heard up and down the country - along with (currently)100, 000 pigs unable to be sold to the EU..... as with shellfish "Blame the EU, they forced us out, they are sticking to the deal.... baa baa" That's George Eustice MP for the next door constituency And these are the lies that Brexit MPS told their Cornish constituents "The MPs are also positive that two of our main industries – farming and fishing – can benefit too." https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/cornwalls-mps-tell-how-county-3393446
Bill 1,788 Posted March 11, 2021 "The UK has announced further delays to post-Brexit import controls, despite warnings the move will be a boon for tax cheats and smugglers. Full controls on animal products were due to be enforced next month and other customs declarations introduced in July, having been shelved from January to ease pressures at the border. But Michael Gove has now delayed them until October and next January respectively – blaming Covid-19, which has led to “greater” disruption than expected. Businesses had warned of disaster if the imposition of yet more red tape went ahead – some saying Britain would experience the huge trade turbulence destabilising Northern Ireland." https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-import-control-delay-eu-latest-b1815815.html This failing shtfest just continues to fail, day after day More revenue lost, more delay and more cost. Any wonder..... "Three-quarters of British manufacturers are struggling to cope with delays in moving goods in and out of the EU amid continuing disruption caused by Brexit and the Covid pandemic, industry figures said. Two months after the UK left the EU on trade terms agreed by Boris Johnson’s government, research from the manufacturing trade group Make UK has shown that 74% of firms in a survey of more than 200 leading industrial companies are facing delays with EU imports and exports. Faced with mounting Brexit red tape, customs checks and disruption to global trade caused by the pandemic, more than half of companies said they were suffering from increased costs. More than a third had lost out on sales, while fears over continued disruption was losing firms future business." These constant moving of deadlines are a clear indication that the problems caused are not being resolved in fact they are growing steadily. Though I suspect it will only when folk are allowed to go back to work that they will find the jobs no longer exist... and won't be coming back either. police want to question a couple involved in a fraud perpetrated on UK voters

horsefly 4,263 Posted March 12, 2021 I'm reposting this vid here because it truly is an excellent account of the disastrous brexit issues facing a small business like his own. Also his claims about why the government signed off on such a disastrous deal are the most plausible I have yet to hear (apart from simple incompetence of the most extraordinary magnitude). He points out that all the problems he faces with increased costs and paperwork relate solely to the issue of meeting EU food quality standards. If the government had simply included in the deal an agreement to at least match EU standards then none of these costs or red-tape would have been necessary. So given that the government had claimed it intended to surpass EU food quality standards why did they not do this and instead sign a deal that has imperilled so many UK companies? Simply put, they lied. Spurrell argues that the real reason they refused an agreement to match EU quality standards is because Johnson had made and arrangement with Trump to actually lower UK standards in order to do a trade deal with the US. It is indicative as to how we expect the Brexiteers to spin it. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/mar/12/exports-to-eu-plunge-in-first-month-since-brexit-uk-economy “Brexit made a bad situation worse in January,” said Samuel Tombs, the chief UK economist at the consultancy Pantheon Macroeconomics. “Our view remains that Brexit is best seen as a slow puncture, rather than a sudden blowout, with the costs gradually accumulating in the form of lower investment and immigration than otherwise would have been the case.” Edited March 12, 2021 by Yellow Fever

UK economic data confound forecasters and beat expectations Policymakers and analysts are revising up their Q1 GDP forecasts Over the past two weeks, there has been no let-up in the positive surprises, with better-than-expected purchasing managers’ indices, business surveys and official data pointing to a strong uptick in activity in March The latest UK economic data has been significantly better than economists expected, suggesting households and companies have been more resilient to the latest lockdown and Britain will climb international economic performance league tables in the months ahead. Most of the important economic data for the period of the lockdown that began on January 4, including output, employment, business sentiment and public finances, have been better than forecast and much stronger than in the first lockdown, showing the ability of businesses and consumers to adapt. With the UK economy poised to reopen gradually in the weeks ahead amid a successful coronavirus vaccination rollout, unlike much of the EU, the prospects for the immediate economic recovery are strong. The positive surprises also lower the immediate pressure on policymakers to provide further monetary or fiscal boosts. Exactly CM! But he has never let the truth interfere with his desperation to promote xenophobia and hatred. You only have to remind yourself of his countless posts, desperately hopeful that at least one EU country surpasses the calamitous death toll of the UK, to know what sort of degenerate morality motivates his lies. Time and again it has been pointed out that Dr June Raine and Kate Bingham have both said very clearly that Brexit had nothing to do with the approval and roll-out of vaccines in the UK. Given his immunity to the truth, I'm beginning to wonder whether he is merely posting in order to use his favourite word "sclerotic" as much as possible. Oh the irony! If only he possessed the slightest level self-awareness then he wouldn't keep using the word "sclerotic" in a way that demonstrates the "sclerotic" ingorance of a bigot for whom evidence and honesty is an irrelevance.
