No we have a place to share thoughts and ideas where the RWNJ who started the other thread can't change the thread title ... so thank you YellowĀ Fever for doing that.

Aye, changing the thread title to something untrue is probably an admittance of the utter failure brexit is.Ā

Chris Grayling. A man so incompetent that he loses a rigged election. Big brexit supporter though.Ā

Jools thinks he's hurting peoples feelings but all he's doing is giving people a good laugh, especially when he claims David Bowie visited his flat in the eighties.

I used to work with someone whose then boyfriend was in the music business, and she met Bowie at a recording studio one time. I asked what he was like, expecting some deep insights, and she just said:

'He's tiny!!!'Ā

Mind you, she was over six foot so quite a few men looked small to her.

I would suggest the report itself will not provide the evidence needed, but will pointĀ  to the right direction in which investigation should be pursued.

I would expect there will be information about dodgy Russians living in the UK, funding the Tories...and questions regarding Aaron Banks ability to conjure up huge sums to fund the brexit campaign, The thought there being he was simply a conduit between Putin and Leave.

It should provide for an interesting summer

Grieve seems to suggest that there are some interesting tidbits in it. I wouldn't expect enough to bring down this vote leave government unfortunately but still would like to see what is being hidden.Ā

How odd we never hear no more about all those other countries who were supposed to be on the verge of leaving the EU

in fact, in polls, support for the EU has been growing right across the EU

Could it be that this was just another case of lying by the brexiteers, that it amounted to no more than dodgy Russian money funding campaigns (France) so as to try to weaken the trading strength of EU nations.....

and only the UK were dim enough to be Putin'sĀ  'useful idiots'

Suspect you're right although for a PM with an 80 (sorry 78 šŸ¤£) seat majority he seems to be an extraordinarily weak and ineffective leader - several complete u-turns following backbench revolts including p*ssing off both wings of the Tory party with his Huawei c*ck up, getting dismantled pretty much every week at PMQs and now he can't even rig a Select Committee properly šŸ˜‚

Then of course there is his plummeting polls, so we may be stuck with a Tory government for the next four years but at least I think we can look forward to waving goodbyes to Messrs Johnson and Cummings in the relatively near future.Ā šŸ˜€

How can that be ?

It was to be frictionless trade with the EU - not lorry parks staked full waiting to receive customs clearance

How will this affect some like, say, Mr & Mrs Mouse-Brain on their annual visit to take in the sites of Austria (Hitlers birthplace), Germany (Hess' grave), Nuremberg, though not any bier kellars as the falling value of the pound makes that unaffordable, along with the cost of health insurance and the new European driving licence ?

"Earlier Mr Johnson spoke to the Taoiseach for the first time since being appointed, and they differed on the issue of the backstop, however, he gave Varadkar his commitment. The UK under no circumstances will have checks at the border in Northern Ireland and we will throw all our energies into sorting out the problems of frictionless trade at the border." A LIE, as we now know

"But what of other forms of friction?Ā  The spectre of lorries queued up on the Dover road is just that.Ā  A phantom." They will be in a lorry park instead

The below is worth a read as it shows how much lying was still being put out as late as February

Stop press

"The long-delayed report into Russian influence in UK politics is to be published before parliament breaks up for the summer on 22 July, the Intelligence and Security Committee has announced.

The unanimous decision by the nine-member cross-party committee comes a day after Boris Johnson was humiliated by the defeat of his chosen candidate to chair the influential committee, former cabinet minister Chris Grayling."

So let's see what it has to say about ....

dodgy money to both Johnson and Leave

get the tumbrils ready šŸ˜„

Just a place for Brexit related comments as Jool'sĀ seems to have tried to take the ball away.

Enjoy !

Good idea @Yellow fever, the other place was a home for reheated arguments from 2016.

So what do we know? The transition period will end on 31st December. That is about it.

We don't know what we will transition to, whether tariffs will apply, what forms to fill in, what "EU Law" will be repealed and what impact all this will have. Furthermore neither does UK business.

This is the very definition of chaos.

Also the government is doing this during a pandemic and what will be an economic depression.

Utter madness.

And now RaabĀ rushesĀ out to say it is ā€œalmost certainā€ Russia tried to interfere in the 2019 General Election,Ā to hurt the Tories is the unsaidĀ conclusion that they want to leave behind.

Just how stupid do they theyĀ think people are to make this announcement TODAY ???? Ā  Are they seriously going to pitch a message that Russia is helping ā€œboth sidesā€ or really helping Labour not theĀ Tories as aĀ fellow ā€œsocialistā€ party?Ā
Ā

And before anyone asks, yes this does relate to Brexit, as until we know why the Tories are doing what they are doing, and who is fundingĀ them is aĀ critical piece of data we need to know, we can not predictĀ what outcome the nation will face at the end of these EU trade negotiations ... I.e. where do Tory leadership loyalties lie? Ā Who is actuallyĀ paying the piper?Ā

Rather flawed by the amount of dodgy money handed over to the Tories by London based 'olly garks'

As to brexit I am fully confident there will be another delay, blamed on the virus no doubt - though some may suggest that a u-turn by Johnson would be unthinkable šŸ˜›

And to compliment the 2019 GE interference story, GovernmentĀ also pushingĀ "the Russians are trying to stealĀ Covid Vaccine data"

" Why are we being fed lines about Russian inteference with last years GE and attempts to steal vaccine study information? To normalise acceptance of Russian interference & downplay impact of the report into Russian interference next week? "

More blunt talk from our Yorkshire friends.

One of the funniest comments about this articleĀ is about the potential return of physical checks on theĀ fuel tanks of lorries arriving from the EU to charge them duty on the diesel they are technically "importing" ...Ā

https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/goves-new-border-plan-the-longest-suicide-note-in-history/

andĀ link to document "completing the single market" written by a Tory of course. Now undoing what they once did. For why?

So this implies that there WILL be EU customs agents on the UK mainland does it not? Or are we going to insist that we'll do all the checks and the French customs will have to do the EU when the lorry gets to Calais? What if France refuses to allow the ferries to dock at Calais unless all the lorries have pre-cleared customs? It already happens on airlines, for example you can't board a flight to the US unless you have pre-cleared....Ā

Leeds MP Hilary Benn asked about the 27 acre site just off junction 10a of the M20 south of Ashford, acquired last week by the government. He wanted to know if it was to be used ā€œjust to check that lorries leaving the UK have the right paperwork, so that they do not clog up the system at Dover and Calais, or will it be used for checks on goods coming into the UK in lorries ā€“ or both?ā€

ā€˜Farageā€™s garageā€™, as the site has become known, will apparently be used to ā€œensure that lorries move out of the UK to the EU with our high-quality goods.ā€Ā It seems therefore it will be a lorry park for trucks without the correct paperwork ā€“ at least thatā€™s what it sounds like to me.

in coming lorries will need to be cleared away from the docks so avoid clogging it up so will be processed at this and other sites

Likewise I would suggest that there will be similar facilities to ensure lorries boarding the ferry have the correct documentation for entering the EU ie they will simply be cleared before crossing the channel or heading into the UK - not sure what pre-cleared is, as with someone talking about pre-prepared elsewhere

which will put extra time and cost on the flow of goods, and is a clear admission that all the lies about frictionless trade were just that ............lies

unless the thought was the EU, would make some special concession to the UK whereby what rules had been agreed could simply be ignored because they would inconvenience the UK - a real concern if we have politicians that dim

Weren't they supposed to be trying to escape third world poverty - I expect the French will have their work cut out next year stopping migrants from the UK fleeing UK poverty šŸ˜‚

"Thornberry also raised a whistleblowerā€™s claims regarding ā€œrelationshipsā€ that Johnsonā€™s chief adviser, Dominic Cummings, made during the ā€œmysterious three years he spent in post-communist Russiaā€. She said the Downing Street chief of staff allegedly met Vladislav Surkov, who is known as the ā€œgrey cardinalā€ of the Kremlin and has close links to Russiaā€™s security agencies.

In the Commons, Dominic Raab, the foreign secretary, said last week that he would not comment on security clearances, but denied the ā€œinsinuationā€ that No 10 was ā€œin the grip of a Kremlin moleā€.

In a letter to Thornberry last week, Sir Mark Sedwill, the cabinet secretary, also did not deny the unusual arrangement. ā€œClassified information, especially intelligence, is made available only to those with the appropriate security clearance,ā€ he wrote. ā€œThis applies to Mr Cummings and his access is appropriate for someone in his role.ā€Ā  Nov 2019
