Fundraise for Delia Out plane banner.

Serious question. Are there any billionaire Norwich fans or fans of Norwich who have considerably more wealth than Delia.

According to some posters on here there are loads of them, they're just a bit shy.

I think that if you speak to some fans they know loads of them personally. It kind of makes you wonder why they couldn't finance £8000 for a banner though doesn't it! 😄

According to the Sunday Times Rich List there are no billionaires living in Norfolk.

There is hope for humanity after all - £8000 is no small amount to spvnk on a meaningless publicity stunt so it shows that even those who would like a rich investor are not so stupid as to give money to a pointless exercise.  Much better to give the money to a charity like the CSF and do some actual good with it rather than pander to the egos of frankly small minded idiots who should try and find something worthwhile to do with their lives than mess about with aeroplanes and pointless childish banners saying "look at us, look what we can do with £8000........"     Childish and pathetic. Sorry, but it is and was proved so by the lack of interest in it.

Just in case you are out of touch hoggy things have moved on a bit.

We encourage all ideas to let Delia and Michael know that it is time to sell.
The plane banner did not raise enough funds in time to fly over the Etihad but is still possible for next season.
We want to fundraise for other constructive ideas and so what would you like to see used for realistically?

Had missed the updates on this thread. @PurpleCanary has pretty much put my opinions across perfectly in his previous posts, but I would venture that fundraising is actually less important that writing a clear and succinct mission statement, which is countersigned by a significant number of fans (four figures minimum).

The banner was - and is - a ridiculous idea that would reduce to nil the chance of any meaningful dialogue between the club and any protest group. I, like Purple, would be very interested to see a formal discussion between the hierarchy of the club and the fanbase regarding how the club might progress once Delia and Michael hand over the reins.

Even those (no - especially those) who are most against the current ownership need to realise that they're in a significant minority (or prove they're not by building a huge base of followers). Delia and Michael should not - and will not - be ousted from the club with police horses and mass protests a la Chase. I'm all up for dialogue and respectful discussion, but if the protest group continues to consider these guerrilla tactics then they will self-immolate before they even get a chance to talk.

Out of interest wolfie do you judge your ' significant minority ' by what you read on the internet or by speaking to people you have contact with in the real world if i may call it that ?

I think that's totally fair and I'm sure the board would be up for a discussion at that level. And if they refused - well that's the first real piece of reasoning to lodge some genuine pressure?

A combination of all Norwich fans I know, both in real life and on this board (there's a huge number of people on here whose views are honest and consistent over a long period of time, on both sides of the middle ground).

I think in this instance, though, there are a lot of people whom you would describe as 'indifferent'; don't feel too strongly one way or another. They, by default, would fall into the majority of not wanting to actively effect change.

Therefore I believe that NCFC fans who actively want D&M to sell up and leave the club ASAP are in an extremely significant minority, and as such they would be better served by employing less aggressive tactics to gauge support.

As I hope you can see, I'm done with petty arguments on here and I'm trying to engage with everyone in a fair and reasonable way. I genuinely believe having these discussions about the club's future is extremely important (see my reference to Purple's excellent posts), but if we all just keep slinging sh*t backwards and forward we'll never get anywhere. Not levelling that accusation at anyone in particular.

This sums it up for me, setting up a fundraiser to fly a banner does not win me over, but the approach outlined by Purple and Wolfie would........

I really do hope so. She needs to go now her time is up. Using this club as a pension fund, no investments are being made. 2.5 million with a return of 21 point and an embarrassing season. The players are going to need a pretty good therapist to come back from that. Delia out!

And who in? Maybe Trump will be at a loose end soon and would like to spend his money.

Yes, let's not get sidetracked and just stick to the real issue of criticising the owners for not selling the club to a consortium made up of father Christmas, the tooth fairy and Peter Ridsdale

Oh come on. You and Hoggy are as bad as each other on here. You both need to dial it back a bit for everyone's sake.

Uh...what?

Try having some random old bloke on a Norwich Forum slander your business online with no knowledge, then try having him private message people on Facebook to let them know i'm posting about "Delia Out" on the forum so I then get a load of personal abuse thrown at me on that platform from those involved - and then wonder why I occasionally respond to his childish antics on here?

Again, I hadn't posted on here today but he'd already left a snide remark. I get old people have less to do and have to socially distance a bit more than others at the moment but his behaviour is that of a 14 year old girl that has a bit of a crush.

Cut out the "old" references please. Plenty of older people have a very good look out on life and have plenty of worthwhile things to do. You may have a lover's tiff going on with Til at the moment, but age is nothing to do with it, unless it is your relative youth and inexperience of life that is making you look like an angry young man, if indeed you are that young......

Weird because the vast majority of fans I know are just fed up with the situation and a lot don't invest in the club the way that they use to... I would however never presume that I am in a significant majority. Unless there was a poll to all season ticket holders we will never know...

I continue to listen and respect the views of those I disagree with...

Would also suggest that not everyone that wishes for a more ambitious board sees a plane banner as a particularly sensible solution to anything.

It's certainly got everyone very worked up... I tend to try and ignore things I find stupid or ridiculous.

I can't be bothered to read the whole of this thread, but surely someone has made a joke along the lines of 'If full funding fails then they will be backed up by parachute payments for future attempts'.

No? I'll get my coat.

Rubbish idea. Rubbish joke. So sue me.

I think honestly, if someone came up with a viable option as a purchaser, be it a fan group or wealthy investor, there would be less resistance. The problem, for me at least, is that the solution is always some ethereal entity that doesn't exist should buy the club and would do a better job running it. You can't sell a club if no one is serious about buying it. Then when I see people making unfounded claims that Delia is using the club as a pension fund etc it annoys me and I can't help but rally against it.

I would strongly disagree that those who want Delia & Michael are in a significant minority. There is a big split between fans, roughly for those who think they're great because they love the club and those who find them completely pointless and holding the club back with their parochial view of football.

I don't think there is the will - at present - for any protests in the style of the infamous 'Chase Out' days, but if this season doesn't really happen then you may get more than the odd chant.

Difference is between the late 90's and now is that the fans as a collective are much less ambitious. I don't recall any fan in the '90's wanting to be and/or preferring the 2nd Tier over the First (Chase never plumbed the depths of the third tier that Delia & Michael took us to), but it is common place to meet Norwich City fans who would rather be in The Championship and wanted us to be relegated. I have sadly met too many of those this season who concur with that point of view.

Delia & Michael have stated on record that they do not listen to the offers that are made, but if one of those people - or consortium went public, then that would be very interesting, depending on who they were, how much money they had and what was known about them.

Smith & Jones want to 'keep it in the family', but I think that is naive. Eventually they will have to sell because they will hit a wall, but I don't think that will happen for a while yet.

I believe that I am in a significant majority, but of course I know I can't back that up with black-and-white facts. However, the onus is on those who want change to align themselves, show strength in numbers, and come up with a coherent plan.

As regards the bits in bold, I agree wholeheartedly. We've had perfectly civil conversations on here even though we have largely different opinions on the subject, and long may it continue. And the people who want to see change but don't think a banner is a sensible solution... well they're the people that you need up front if the movement is to have any credibility.
