Fundraise for Delia Out plane banner.

Buyer beware, and all that.

Just in case you are out of touch hoggy things have moved on a bit.

We encourage all ideas to let Delia and Michael know that it is time to sell.
The plane banner did not raise enough funds in time to fly over the Etihad but is still possible for next season.
We want to fundraise for other constructive ideas and so what would you like to see used for realistically?

I suspect that it shows something about their financial understanding that they are not even able to raise £8000!

No, just roundly ridiculed, I'd imagine.

Perhaps we could suggest "we'll give you money if you spend it on something useful, like supporting the club"

A bog standard response from one of those on here who think that anybody who criticises the club in any way shape or form is not a supporter.

I would agree with this, equally as I do not like to see those that do like to criticise the club having a go at those that do not, this is also wrong. Maybe this group could reach out to those that orchestrated the Chase Out campaign for some ideas.........

I wouldn't say moved on - that suggests progression. They have less members in their little group than they did 2 weeks ago.

But it's nice to see them coming up with other fundraising ideas. Although if they can only scrape together £100 directly after a relegation i'm not sure how well they're going to fare now.

I don’t do twitter so I can’t get to see what’s on the link. Having several times castigated fans for complaining about the owners but doing nothing about it I am hardly going to attack this, but I suspect this hasn’t been thought through. A proper campaign needs to start with a plan for the future rather than a stunt. You cannot call for the owners to leave unless you can articulate a viable alternative.

It seems as if they are still putting the cart before the horse. They need to work out and articulate what they think is wrong with the current regime and - which is just as or even more important - what kind of regime they would want to replace it, and go public with that first, with a website the obvious place to do it. Publicity stunts can come once that has been done.

You only have to look at some of the threads here to see that it is easily possible for fans to draw up really quite detailed critiques of how clubs are run and provide examples of a potentially better way. You need to have a basic understanding of football finance, to be sure, but not specialised accountancy skills.

£100 Not much less than  Delia Mwj  / Board spent on transfers When we went up last season

Well, no, I haven't! And you might be confirming me in my patrician view of the social media. But I have at least to give them credit for trying to do something, even if they have gone about it totally the wrong way! It is possible that fans with more of a sense of purpose might latch onto this. There is a case to be made for new - richer - owners.

That said, so far this farcical exercise seems to have proved what some of us have said all along, that the opposition to Smith and Jones is vocal but very limited and the clear majoirty of fans understand why the club is run as it is.

To give them credit at least they are consistent in their criticism and in wanting to get Delia out. Far more credible than flip-flopping, in, out, in, out, in, out dependent on each passing season. I suppose not knowing if you're going to be at City Hall or St Andrews Hall at the end of each season keeps it fresh. 😉

Well how is opposing the club "being a supporter?"

Yep, but the point is a reasonable one. If they want to do something useful, they should get together with each other - and with the lack of numbers of people involved, that shouldn't be hard to do - and they should come up with something useful rather than spvnking money away on gimmicks.

Now is not the time for rebellion - if it all goes pear shaped in the next year or two and we end up in League 1 or grovelling down at the bottom of the championship, then maybe yes, but the era we are in has only been going three years - three years of huge change and development - and next season will be part of that development - so they need to wait until such a time as there will be enough people thinking, ok, this development is not working and something has to change.  At the moment they are like flies on a wall, in danger of being swatted away, but if we end up back in League 1 there will be many more people who will stand up and say, come on, this has gone far enough.

I know we have just been relegated but I do wish these people would try and understand the bigger picture and where we are as a club, with it's much improved facilities, it's much admired ability to attract good young players and it's management set up which is the way most clubs are going to set up in the next few years, the fact we own the ground, the fact that our players are worth much more than they were two years ago......so big changes at the club are not required right now. Maybe that is why their little campaign failed, because despite relegation there is still a lot going for our club - much of it down to the majority shareholders who time and time again manage to bring the club back to a good path in spite of adverse conditions of obscene finances that affect modern football.

If all these people have to offer is to throw away what we've got just to get money, then they are frankly barking up the wrong tree.

Going on Purple's idea I suggest spending a quid on a pad of paper and some pens and giving the rest of the money to a local, community charity.

True - but are either "supportive?"

If you think so, say how it is supportive.

I'm taking the ones who have 'interacted' with me as the sample and extrapolating...yes.

Considering he messaged the group admin letting him know Hogesar had created this thread, an obvious attempt to stir against him - I'd imagine so.

Surely you don't have to agree with everything the club does to justify being supportive ?  The membership scheme had thousands of critics within the fan base. Many flatly refused to join it but does that mean they are not supportive of the club per se ?

We are not talking about a grumble when the club makes a mistake - we are talking about an (albeit disorganised) group of hiring a banner to try to embarrass the club on national TV.

I sometimes grumble at my wife (sometimes even argue) but that's a hell of a lot different to getting a plane with a banner telling her that it's time to go!

How can that be supportive?
