sonyc 5,017 Posted July 5, 2020 A bit of a sideways look (or should that be a look down?) at another story that may be developing at the foot of the Championship....but might Warnock be going into League 1 with Boro? I'm not sure he has managed a team relegated from the second tier but it would be odd indeed to see Boro in with the binners next year.

I thought he wished to stay and wasn't finished in terms of his interest in management. But reading an article, you're right, it is to keep them up. Neil Warnock on Middlesbrough's points target and his 'good long meeting' with Steve Gibson - Teesside Live https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/neil-warnock-middlesbroughs-points-target-18543982 Wonder what might happen if they did get relegated? Their run in has difficult fixtures but depends if Wigan get their points deduction rescinded.
A Load of Squit 4,644 Posted July 5, 2020 The plight of Wigan may save Boro. The English Football League has said Wigan will be deducted 12 points. The sanction will be applied at the end of this season if the Latics, 14th in the Championship, finish outside the bottom three after 46 games. Should Wigan finish in the relegation zone, the penalty will be applied during the 2020-21 season instead. It will work in Boro's favour if Wigan stay out of the bottom 3 until the end of the season but less than 12 point from it.

He was pressing for a review of the 12 point deduction due to the very strange circumstances. Then, Jeff is just a media person.
