keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted May 23, 2020 There is a sudden haste to get football matches happening. Apparently, the Championship may start with less training. Obviously the EPL did not have an agreement to test every team on the same day. Just symptomatic of the muddled thinking.

They returned to training on Thursday. Other clubs seem to have revealed results on Wednesday and returned to training. We've returned to training before having any results after opting out of the first test. Its on the Pink'un in black and white.... The first Premier League testing results were revealed on Wednesday, with six positive tests for coronavirus from three clubs across a total of 748 tests from 19 clubs after the first phase of mass testing. Norwich who returned to training at Colney on Thursday - were the only club which did not take part. All clubs were tested again yesterday and it’s those results which are expected to be revealed this weekend. Hong Kong company Prenetics are testing to see if players currently have Covid-19 and says results can take up to 48 hours to process. Branston Pickle 3,632 Posted May 23, 2020 Looks like a couple of positive results out of 900-odd tests this time, certainly heading in the right direction.

Not necessarily. Assuming these 2 were negative earlier in the week they could have infected a number of team mates despite attempts to socially distance in the last couple of days. Next few rounds of tests will be interesting.
Branston Pickle 3,632 Posted May 24, 2020 (edited) ...you think 2 out of 950 is somehow worse than 6 out of 700-odd? I get what you mean, but there’s bound to be blips and the whole point is to reduce/get rid of the infections and it’s currently going in the right direction. Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted May 24, 2020 2 positive tests in just under 1000 people an infection rate of 0.2%. I am torn with this as on the one hand the virus is clearly still there on the other we must accept that we will not be in a risk free environment so far as Covid goes for possibly years. If we do not start with a rate of 0.2% then when will we. I totally understand the fear of a second spike but on the other Astra Zenica who hope to produce our vaccine said today the biggest risk to its development is the rapid disappearance of the virus in society at large and the ability to test. There are financial pressures on football clubs as there are in many businesses, ultimately its about getting the workers to be content to return to work, the downside being leave it too late and some may not have work to return to. This is clearly not the case with the PL but every division underneath it is looking very fragile when the Government support stops
