Whilst we screwed it up on the final day, we were 7 points and with a much worse GD behind Southampton in 17th place at the start of April. Kicking off on the final day at Fulham we were out of the relegation zone, all it takes is a run of results like we had in April 2005 to make a massive difference. Yellow Fever 3,747 Posted May 9, 2020 I've an idea - as the remaining 9 games or so if played at 2 a week in neutral grounds - 5 aside or whatever - will be completely different in character than the aborted normal league - let's start again! 9 games - zero points for starters for everybody. Level mini-league. Bottom 3 relegated (yes that could be Liverpool). Seems fair to me - well no less unfair that what's being proposed! Wouldn't it be exciting on Sky ! They obviously went away to research an article to prove that not much changes in the last 9 games of a season. They come back with research which says that, actually, quite a lot changes in the last 9 games of a season, but they don't change the slant of the article in any way. They even compound the lack of journalistic integrity by including the Championship and concluding that Leeds and West Brom would definitely get promoted based on history, even though they mention Leeds's collapse last season and Villa's rise from 8th to win the playoffs. Honestly, this is truly objectionable, lazy journalism. Most of the articles on their News site are similar - they are more like the Daily Mail than the Daily Mail; the headlines are invariably misleading and the facts are reported in editorial fashion.
