Think they are saying 22nd or 29th because all teams have to do 2 weeks quarantine before it can start. What happens if further cases emerge during those two weeks though i'm not sure?

As it will be here. The Premier League, the Government and the powerful clubs in the Premier League all want it to happen and will find ways to make sure that it does.

Unless of course it all goes pear shaped in Germany

I think the only thing that will stop it here is if the players refuse to play or start picking up the virus in (more than minimal) numbers when they return to training.

Obviously if a player gets infected and seriously ill then you would think that would be it for the whole thing. I sincerely hope that doesn’t happen - it would be disastrous for the player and his family but also for the sport as a whole as I think it would put a lot of people off the premier league.

But three players were tested as positive in Cologne Jim and they are still going ahead.

Why?

The leagues plans said they expect to have cases and those cases will be isolated and treated like any other injury. The PL plans are the same. A few positive cases won’t stop it

I think they were asymptomatic and can only assume that no cases have been serious enough yet for anyone to end up in hospital. If that happens it would surely be a game changer? Fingers crossed it doesn't. I didn't realise that a French player had already been in hospital in an induced coma for a while because of it. Thankfully he;s now recovered.

Yes I was talking about more than a few. But then what happens if 5 or 6 players from the same team get it at once? How is it fair to expect that team to play matches either at all or severely depleted?

As lockdown relaxes what possible harm can come from very high profile examples of people ignoring social distancing...

Also worth noting that Germany’s permission for the league to restart has come with several other easing of restrictions such as shops reopening ect. Any permission for the PL and EFL to start will have to come as part of a package as well. Football fans are a minority and the general public won’t take kindly to football resuming whilst they still have massive restrictions on their own life. There was a question from the public put to the minister tonight saying something along the lines that it’s been hard to see talk of sport coming back but religious places are not?

Germany also are recording  under 1000 new cases a day whereas we had 6,000 today.

Yes it’s looking like May 15th or 22nd for Germany and the PL have plans in place for start dates throughout June, the first being June 12th. The question is how far are we behind Germany and when will we see the sort of restrictions lifted here that Germany have today?

It’s going to be up to people to make their own decisions. If you see a group of professional footballers who are being heavily tested, probably living in some permanent form of semi quarantine and playing in front of empty stadiums with strict social distancing measures in place other than on the playing/training pitch, and think that means it’s okay to go and have a kick around with your mates, then my guess would be you’re the sort of person who would have probably broken social distancing guidelines one way or another anyway.
