Planned forum maintenance tonight

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We're upgrading the forum software to the latest version and moving the messageboard to new servers tonight.

In order to do this, the messageboard will be down between 8pm to midnight.

When you wake up tomorrow morning the messageboard should be a lot more stable.

The ability to hide entire threads would be nice. I'm tired of hitting 'next unread topic' just to enter into the coronavirus thread once again to see another petty argument, usually (but not always) involving you-know-who.

Ha! I rarely use next unread topic button for pretty much the same reason (s) . It also try to take toy to a topic that you've bypassed/ ignored   earlier, so  not that useful.

What would be handy  would be if it automatically took you to the blue line when you click on a post  that you have visited earlier. Cuts out tedious scrolling looking for the  blue line  , easily missed when scrolling.

Will there be a button where we can choose to see Bill's posts, rather than not read them?

yes, it will be in the shape of a key - if not Ricardo can lend you his :classic_dry:

I’ve been registered on here for ten years and just had to go and check another thread to see what on Earth the blue line is. Useful to know!

When it first appeared after last revamp,  I thought " hmmm handy" but soon realised it was easy to  miss, scrolling.  Have to admit that I've become quite proficient at hitting it as it  whizzes past.

The only change I've noticed thus far is that under 'next unread topic' it no longer tells you what the next thread actually is. Is that a bug that will be fixed or is it intentional as part of the new software?

Hopefully a bug that will be ironed out when it wake up after their late night... If not I'm going to be going to the Corona virus thread another 97 times...

I've taken a screenshot to show you, but after trying to upload it three times, the system keeps telling me the image is 'queued' and doesn't upload. Is that another bug, or maybe because I'm trying to upload a screenshot instead of a regular image? I've never seen it before.
