Erdivisie won't finish

Just a point to make here is that this decision isn’t Null and Void. They have kept within Uefas guidelines and the table stands for euro promotion just no champions elected! So Ajax go into CL and AZ into qualifying rounds and they are not happy

Ok there is a serious threat to the PL at present. The Main sponsor has seen the writing is on the wall and now want out. The lower leagues are in trouble yes, but all of the Premier teams are in more mortal danger than anyone on here is predicting. 

The Premier League presently has a gun to its head, it must finish the season with the current TV rights intact. If not then SKY will pay out zero. The vast majority of the booty from SKY apparently does not get paid out until the end of the season.  SKY suddenly wants to jump ship as their long term growth is collapsing all around them. By the very nature of the league not being completed in full or declared void allows SKY to walk away with its money in its pockets and clubs no longer able to finance the contractual monster they have created. 

This will allow the TV companies to come back with a vast reduced offer and we are talking about a 90% reduced offer. SKY itself may yet go from boom to bust even if the season is completed. 

The prospect of Football returning with Crowds is very unlikely until a vaccine or a drug that saves lives. The real prospet of this happening maybe as long as 2 years away. 

Clubs will go bust and the bigger the club, the bigger the bust. Look at Spurs with their new half a billion stadium, how will thy finance it now.

Its grim but nobody wants to talk about it yet. Only 5 weeks into this disaster, wait until we are in week 15. Most industries will have collapsed, SKY subscriptions will start to be cancelled the whole pyramid will dissolve.

Should imagine Ajax  are fine with it, whatever they say publicly, after looking like they were unstoppable,  the wheels came off ,big time, AZ were in the ascendancy...they will feel they've been robbed of their best ever chance.

Assuming this is not tongue in cheek Bitesyerlegs: 

SKY's business is built around sports. So even if they wanted out they really can't do that immediately. SKY cannot pay zero for the rights as they have already paid some, so yes they could unilaterally decide not to pay any more but they have a pesky contract, and the terms of that will be enforced through legal action in the courts. They really can't avoiding judgement against them by declaring bankruptcy as they are owned by Comcast who can be sued in turn. 

TV companies (plural) could come back with a reduced offer but why would they - the value of overseas rights should not change, playing to no crowds isn't a problem as virtual set graphics can add "atmospherics" back in; the only issue is if there is a global economy slowdown that means broadcasters can't charge as much for the advertising that pays for the TV rights. 

Many of the PL teams are financed by mega rich owners, who can either cut a cheque (Man City) or refinance (Liverpool, Man Utd), then there are specific cases like Norwich and err.... who don't have big financial commitments, then there are teams like .... Aston Villa and Burley and err... who have big financial commitments and can't survive a loss of TV monies or crowd income ... as for Newcastle, well never mind. 

But if banks don't want to refinance clubs like Spurs, unless they could sell as stake to the NFL, it's not like demolishing the stadium to build houses instead provides an alternative financial solution. They might as well refinance it, as central bank money is going to be very cheap. 

So I wouldn't worry too much about the PL, its financing will sort itself out; but for all of the leagues below, yes major problems ahead.

Slightly on topic but a little left field, I'm quite surprised that Sky haven't created some kind of away season ticket for football fans.

Every professional game now has a sky camera at the game so providing a feed is done so for those that don't travel to away games they can watch the away matches and for those that live miles from their team they could watch any matches.

Those that want to go to home games will still go but surely from a revenue perspective offering this would give Sky more customers.
