Captain Tom raises £1m

Recommended Posts

The 99 year old captain a veteran of WW2 raises £1m by walking 100 times around his large  garden in his walking frame.  Wonder if PL millionaires will raise this much without breaking sweat.

Make that £2m.

How lovely to have such a ‘ feel good ‘ coming together for our beloved NHS. If Captain Tom thought he was having a very quiet lockdown birthday I think he’s in for a surprise.

They’ll need a lorry or two just to deliver the cards 🙂

To think some people are worried when football will start again. This puts it all into perspective.

Great to see and the generosity of normal people, yet those multi millionaire footballers all arguing about where 30% of their wage should go! They should all be Furloughed and given the maximum of £2,500 per month under the current situation and the football clubs could then donate 50% of the wages saved to the NHS, the other money saved on wages would help the club’s financially....... put the high paid bellends in the same boat as the rest of the general public under these challenging times. Dose of reality.

Finished his task this morning. A remarkable effort by a remarkable man. He really managed to tap into the sprit and generosity of the British public during these scary times.

Extraordinary and well done the British public for supporting him. His 100th birthday is on the 30th and I hope a knighthood is awarded that day. Must admit I well up a bit when I see him on his walker, respect.

👏

This morning it currently stands at £18 million. At this rate they will build and name an NHS facility after him.

Total legend. It's a lovely story in these bizarre times. Mind you... All this donating to the NHS could be seen as a bit odd considering they're not a charity and the government should really be held accountable for their funding.

Hope they name a hospital or at least a ward after him.....What a phenomenal feat (and feet) by one superman in his latter years......

True Grit.....from a True Brit.....

Totally agree,  but these are exceptional times and every penny is helpful. Lets hope HMRC allow them this money, untaxed.

Yes, if others can get a Knighthood for just being good at something, then why can't he get one for being absolutely effin brilliant at something.
