Best Ever Premier League XI (with a twist...)

Recommended Posts

To help ease the boredom, here's an interesting debate to have:

Name, in your opinion, the best XI to play in the Premier League era (1992 - present).

Formation must be 4-4-2 and each player should be put in the position they're best known.

The twist? You can't name any player who has played for the following teams: Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur.

Good luck!

Hard one (except Shearer)! Out and out wingers the hardest... Only chosen players I can remember seeing regularly, so mostly post-2000.

Gk: Jaaskelainen

rb: Gary Kelly

lb: Leighton Baines

cb: Jagielka

cb: Southgate

rw: Solano

lw: Speed

cm: Jay Jay Okocha

cm: Kevin Nolan

fw: Vardy (maybe Di Canio but wanted pace alongside Shearer)

Fw: Shearer

I've tried to steer clear of players from the 90s and early 00s as I was too young to remember them properly, although I did make two or three of exceptions.

Jaaskelainen; Coleman, Jagielka, Coloccini, Harte; Maddison, Cahill, Speed, Le Tissier; Di Canio, Shearer.

There's no obvious width in the team and it is a little bit attacking, so if this were a real team I'd probably axe Maddison to put in an extra centre back and play a 3-4-3 system with Di Canio and Le Tissier playing as tens behind Shearer and Coleman and Harte providing the width.
