Coronavirus and the Media

Recommended Posts

I watched him say he did not say it two days after I watched him saying it. The scum base of his still lap it up even when confronted by the filmed evidence. Cracks are appearing in the GOP now they can see that he is hurting their chances of being re-elected. Still hoping for a big birthday bash on the 4th of Nov..the day after my b/day.

Meanwhile, the state propaganda channel and the President's personal liar says Covid-19 means there are already 19 versions, of it. Therefore the WHO is incompetent and so it should be defunded. (I assume that where she is going)

Memo from reality : It's called Covid-19 because it was discovered in 2019.

"people should know the facts" she says ...that’s rich from "alternative facts" Kellyanne and Fox.

p.s. she knows this is a lie, they know that she is lying. They just don't care.

p.p.s well actually they do care. Not about truth, just about how to get through the next 24 hour news cycle.

I follow George Conway, her old man. He hates trump more than anyone else on the planet, and says so everyday. Whatever their conversation is over the table is godknows. They have 4 kids together, how did that happen? She is called the crack addict by some, and she certainly looks the part.

Be prepared for a major shift in US policy away from stay in place recommendations.

Typically whatever gets said on Fox, the President reflects within 24 hours.....

And more - Dr Oz became "famous" on the Oprah Winfrey show, now a Fox favorite. We will see if this idea shows up in the President's public remarks today.

Problem is with a population of 340 million, 2 to 3% total mortality = 6 to 10 MILLION people.

If he doesn't believe the Lancet forecast he could say so. If he misspoke about the forecast someone should correct him. If he has no idea what the forecast of  2 - 3% total mortality means he should never be on TV. If he believes it and accurately described it and still thinks that is O.K ... well I am at a loss for words at the callousness this implies. Hippocratic oath?

The British Medical Journal published a study that found more than half of the recommendations on medical talk series like The Dr. Oz Show had either no evidence or contradicted medical research.[9]  Donald Trump's appointment of Oz to the Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition was criticized as an example of choosing "pundits over experts".[10][11]

What does he mean by 2-3%? The population of the US?

In effect yes, which is why is was such a WTF? comment.

The accepted definition of "total mortality" is the number of deaths per 100,000 of a population. To say 2 to 3 % total mortality is not the same as saying 2 to 3% of the 100,000 population will be infected by that illness (% morbidity) nor the same as saying 2 to 3% of those who contract that illness will die from that illness (% mortality)

I'm sure some "correcting" explanation about mainstream media and "fake news" will be pushed out later to fix what he said to mean the latter....

Looking to see if I can find that Lancet study he referred to.....

Maybe this one

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)30566-3/fulltext

Clean up on aisle 9.... his "clarification" he "misspoke" except he just restated what he said without any reference to the 2 to 3% that was in his original interview. So nice try, but no cigar Dr Oz.

Oh go on then.

Do tell me where in the Old or New Testament it says that homosexuality is the cause of a plague.

Or vaccines are from the pit of hell.

And if you can find any such passages, that you believe them?

Give me a break.

I didn't say any of what you've inferred I did, I said you should read the Gospels yourself. Don't rely on what others tell you as that's third hand information you're giving. It would never stand up in a court of law.

Eh?

The two quotes were from leading Evangelicals.

I asked where in the Old or New Testament you can find such references.

Hint - you can't, they don't exist (unless you know different)

They made it up to suite their agenda.

Another fake doctor  .... and then a real one. p.s. it's 3,500 deaths/yr for swimming pool accidents in US, the 360,000 number is worldwide. So another "expert" who can't even quote the real statistics to make a point.

Fox is trying really really hard to convince people the CoronaVirus is nothing to worry about - now just go back to work!

As someone commented  - My friend caught an auto accident, didn't know he had it... brought it to work, and the receptionist caught it. 3 days later, she got ill. They sent everyone home but it was too late. 70 people at his job caught the auto accident from her and 10 ended up in the ICU on ventilators

What are they doing giving credence to idiots. Freedom of speech is essential but not when you are lying or deliberately misleading.

Motor vehicle accidents, drowning and cancer are not infectious. How do these people get to be doctors?

He didn't say the Corona virus was a hoax. He said the Democrat hysteria surrounding the virus was a hoax.

Not the same thing at all.

Covid deaths per million are much lower in USA than Europe due to lower population densities in most of the States.  Therefore you would not apply European solutions to the majority of the US. There is not a one size fits all solution to covid

As always you focus on one thing, ignore all the other things he says (including several on this thread), and try a bit of distraction and whatabouttery.

It’s actually quite odd how much you are infatuated with him.

It’s clear he’s an insecure narcissist, fantasist, casual racist, misogynist and perpetual liar. If you don’t believe me, there are thousands of tweets and quotes to back this up. Maybe you two have things in common?

It’s quite depressing that in 2020 you and his supporters get behind this morally bankrupt and repugnant character.

I understand he triggers you and actually makes you feel insecure. But you can take encouragement from the fact that there are many like you, so you are not alone in this respect. Neither am I infatuated. Look at the posters with the highest post counts on this thread and you'll find out who is obsessed with Trump. Whereas most of my posts have been focused on the fake news and the media lies surrounding the President. It's no surprise that the left have this virulent hatred of Trump because they realise there is not one single person on the left who comes anywhere near as competent as Trump is in his term as President.

Joe Biden - is that the best you can come up with? Come on, give me a break. If you think Sleepy Joe is presidential material  then you're not taking this seriously, at all.

🤣

Face it mate, you’re his b itch.

You even talk like him. Maybe you look like him too, which is why you’re such a bitter lad.

If you were in prison together, you’d be dropping the soap for him all the while 😁👍🏻

The family are so thick they don't understand social distancing or lockdown

The White House has defended Ivanka Trump's personal trip to New Jersey last week even as federal guidelines advise Americans to remain at home.

The president's eldest daughter and her family travelled from Washington DC to the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster to celebrate Passover.

Its 216 miles there and I guess a similar length back

Hah hah. This thread is about media in the time of the CoronaVirus and fact is it's a target rich subject.

Trumps MO is to declare all established news "fake" while he and his allies peddle their propaganda.

More from state television Fox News.

This is all to reinforce a reasonable sounding "the cure is worse than the disease" message.

(Is she drunk or drunk on power?)

You can bet your boots the National Guard or local Police won't be interfering with these protests.

Wait until there is a gathering of African Americans. The water cannon will be out.

Indeed.

This is a reboot of "the Tea Party". Ostensibly to complain about government overreach and public expenditure after the last crash, it was really a bunch of right wing funded "astroturf" as opposed to "grass roots" protests against the black guy in the white house.

This time around its the same people, complete with Gadsen "don't tread on me" flags, AR 15 automatic rifles and their George Washington masks ( and fairly often with Confederate flags in Union states too  🙂 )

Hijacking liberal phrases like "it's my body" from the pre-choice movement to become "it's my body" to be the right to be dead.

p.s. how does a "News" organization get to know / get away with / showing when "new" protests are scheduled ... ?

Meanwhile. The full court press to force the US workforce back to work continues. More on Fox (of course it's Fox)

- more on this in the Trump thread, as the push is not just via media. It's going to involved Federal Government coercion.

The richest country on earth can't afford a furlough program like the UK etc did ... which is why the economy cratered.

Allowing mass unemployment is a political choice, keeping people on payrolls is an equally valid economic response.

"  ... there are more important things than living .. "   Just let that sink in.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4669728/BBC-admits-spends-139-000-year-buying-Guardian.html

The BBC has opened itself up to accusations of left-wing bias after it was revealed that it buys more than 1,300 copies of the Guardian every week.

The Corporation ordered 69,212 copies of the left-leaning newspaper, which has a relatively small circulation and is free to view on the internet.

Although the Guardian has a small circulation among the public, the paper was the second most ordered by the Beeb and cost the Corporation a total of £139,260 last year.

It also buys 70,605 copies of the times, does that mean the BBC has also opened itself up to right-wing bias?

This would've had some substance if it didn't contradict itself instead it's more compete b0ll0x from RTB.
