Coronavirus and the Media

Fox are on a roll ....

BTW the "logic" of the evangelicals is nots. i.e God didn't plan for this to happen, but it is because man has sinned. So if man didn't sin God wouldn't have let this happen? Or is there someone else sending disease to afflict man because he is sinning? And there is someone else who can stop it if man stops sinning?

Well this toerags Franklin Graham God is a bit of nasty bloke isn't he. So the world turned away from him and he knifes them in the back. Perhaps he should pray more like the Muslims.

Like a lot of US Evangelicals he is very Old Testament. It's like he's never heard of Jesus's teachings and the New Testament. Personally I have a lot of sympathy with Marcion of Synope and his conclusions about Jesus v the Wrathful God of Israel...

Study of the Hebrew scriptures, along with received writings circulating in the nascent Church, led Marcion to conclude that many of the teachings of Jesus were incompatible with the actions of Yahweh, the belligerent god of the Hebrew Bible.

Its an interesting read if anyone is not aware of him and what it forced the early Church to formalize... and it still gets people wound up.... one example below.

https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/kevin-deyoung/marcion-getting-unhitched-old-testament/

" For him, there was a fundamental contradiction between law and love, righteousness and grace. Marcion thought that true Christianity was flawed by the incompatibilities at the heart of its teaching. His solution was radical. Nothing less than a restatement of faith would do, and for Marcion that restatement had to focus on what for him was the essential gospel: the love, mercy and compassion displayed in the life and teachings of Jesus. This, for him, was all that was necessary, it was the blueprint for a new and pure humanity. There was no other truly Christian foundation for belief or morality"

Johnson has just been moved into Intensive care. As much as I detest him I would not like to see the virus take him. It is a terrible way to go. How do I know. Mrs Shrimp lost her brother in law being one of the three people who died of the virus in Lynn hospital saturday. The doctors and nurses did all they could but to no avail.

As a lapsed Catholic but still a small c Christian I hate their blind dogma, ignorance and misuse of the bible to spread a twisted and selfish version of their religion.

There will be a reckoning ... hopefully only a November political one, but tempers are rising over all this BS.

I will not repeat unproven posts suggesting there were stock purchases and campaign contributions behind this.....

One aspect (starting to be reported in some media outlets) is the talk we hear from politicians about battles and a war against an invisible enemy.

The talk of Johnson tonight being a fighter is very probably true yet the danger with this is that you probably cannot take on this virus. If it is indeed undiscriminating in terms of who catches it (points made consistently by politicians) and again true, then likewise those that sadly die, equally, cannot be considered that they were lacking in fight. Often, ICU specialists have done everything they can to save someone but they just couldn't. Anyway, just an opinion but I don't like the language as it casts a negative on victims. The media would do better to tackle this. Perhaps in those press briefings the journalists could raise the issue.

This should probably go in the Trump thread, but there is so much going on it would be easy to lose the importance of each one.  I'm posting this here as the last Press Secretary failed to hold a single press conference in her 10 months appointment and only appeared on Fox News. The new press secretary is his campaign spokesperson, so another breach of the Law, specifically the Hatch Act that says you can't use your position in government for political reasons. She's his campaign spokesperson!

Was it 'Bruno' who was burned at the stake for concluding Yahweh and the God of Jesus where in fact two different gods? I'll have to check.

Meanwhile back at Fox.  There is ONE, I do mean ONE journalist there who seeks the truth....

... but ignoring facts is still the modus operandi of everyone else. So, quick, let's blame China!

And the World Health Organisation didn't declare a pandemic until March 11th.

In mid-January WHO were saying human-to-human infection was impossible.

You should read the gospels for yourself, rather than giving third hand advice to others.

Oh go on then.

Do tell me where in the Old or New Testament it says that homosexuality is the cause of a plague.

Or vaccines are from the pit of hell.

And if you can find any such passages, that you believe them?

Give me a break.

Well the AIDS plague affected homosexual men more than any other group so you could argue the Old Testament got that prediction right.

There is a problem with the video though - February. Check what happened in February.

Paula Reid did.... and the President didn't like it.

So the media just got steamrollered by their own lies. And CNN even cut away from the live briefing during the exposure of their fakery so that they wouldn't shed light on the way they have corrupted the Wuhan virus narrative.

Unfortunately, I think Trump is giving to much time to fighting the fake news channels. Our own Boris Johnson is showing the correct strategy is to ignore the fakers such as Channel 4 and getting the correct message out over the heads of the fake media. Hence the unprecedented levels of support for the Tory government and Boris in particular. Trump should learn from this.

Any comment on Trump’s quote that the virus was a “hoax”?

Like your role model, you seem to ignore all the lies and disgraceful things that come out of his mouth (and Twitter account).

Feb 28.

In his own words - 1.02 to 1.45   He then compares it to what happens every year with the flu, says US is totally prepared and that so far nobody had died.
