They probably get someone to cough over you as they wheel you in the door.😃

More likely they had Covid when they were admitted even if they were unaware. All patients get a Covid test as matter of course.

Cool heads have pointed out many pitfalls - and reasons - why the current 'confirmed' positives may be erratic at present - schools and holidays helped by the nice weather being the most obvious. If people believe it was the schools we may have now returned to the underlying growth rate as the school bubble stalls etc.

Have any of them mentioned vaccines?

The drop is in all age groups, not just schoolkids.

In the over 60's group they barely got off the floor anyway.

Interesting to read that in terms of football and the pandemic it is believed it was not attendance at the Euros  matches that caused the increases in infections but rather the large congregations of supporters in indoor locations (restricted air flow) that has been the source.

Link:

Surely, this is a positive and more encouraging story for vaccinated fans wanting to return to stadia later this summer and feeling just a bit more safe?

I think it will be full houses from day 1 SONYC.

The usual crowd will object, no doubt.

It's becoming full circle now.  If I recall correctly almost the first thing discussed when it hit our shores was whether we should make sporting events behind closed doors or if this would cause people to congregate in pubs etc.

Yeah I think that was probably presumed to be the case all along. Large groups in pubs. People at home having friends over. Even if people outdoors watching large screens, lots of fans jumping around hugging when goals go in etc.

I can’t see any restrictions on sporting events other than perhaps having to show double vaccinated status before you’re allowed in.

Yea..i think that deaths figure of 131 is abnormally high, i think its not just about catching up after a normal weekend but over the weekend the daily Covid data was being  quite late in the day on more than one occasion due to technical  difficulties concerning the daily deaths total so it feels like the data has caught up with itself.

Here we are late into July and still room to find 64,000 more for their first dose, just shows there are still a fair number out there unvaxxed but  every one more is still so important and helps the overall situation.

As far as I’m concerned if you’re not vaccinated without a valid reason you don’t get free privileges that those vaccinated do, so no entry to football grounds, theatre’s or other events. That might encourage those without vaccines to get vaccinated!

As you can see the vast majority of deaths are from previous three days and some even back as far as 10th July.

It looks like Hospital numbers will top out in the next week. My initial guess of 7k to 8k  now looks a bit high.

Will be interesting to see AZ financial results today after US firm Pfizer announced massive financial gains yesterday. Might give an insight into the campaign of negativity towards AZ and US failure to approve.😉

No more hospitalisations in Launceston

A minor injuries unit (MIU) in Launceston will be closed until 1 October, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has announced.

It said the decision was made due to staff being off sick with coronavirus and other conditions or having to self-isolate due to Track and Trace.

Staff will relocate to Bodmin, Stratton and a larger MIU in Liskeard.

The trust said it "should have done more" to share the decision with the local community.

As mentioned a few days ago Van Tam has as good as confirmed boosters.

When it comes to a booster, he explains there's been guidance issued by the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisation that is advocating for booster jabs this autumn for those over 50, or those with high risk conditions.

Long term immunity is still a question, Pfizer has recently published data I believe, a booster tweaked for variants always on the cards and thank goodness for it.

This has got to make sense.

Has there been any update on vaccine-resistance anywhere ?
