💔 EU

Great news, at last. No longer a province.  Who could be possibly broken hearted. There was a democratic vote and we are still a democracy. Just. All that has gone before last night since that vote has shown just how close we have become to not being such.

Well the Scots for a start, they were quite happy to be a 'province' of the EU but clearly don't wish to be a 'province' of the UK which is what they are now, although probably not for too much longer.

Then there's our Irish 'province'...........same deal there.

No problem, The one who looks like the Crankie can have another Independence vote as she didn't like the first result, sever all ties with Westminster,, no cherry picking mind, stand on its own two feet and join the EU.  Entry can be fudged and bail outs are only a bit crippling. It will feel like a proper holiday though spending Euros up there.

What exactly is the same about N.I.?

Thread still needs moving.

Marvellous, double down on three years of stupidty why don't you?

What we actually need is a lot less nationalism and a lot more patriotism - I hope you understand the difference between the two although your post suggests probably not  🙁

Well you asked who was broken hearted about it and I told you - the Scots. Fair enough if you're happy for them to become independent, I am too for that matter - as far as I'm concerned it's entirely up to them whether they want to carry on as part of the UK shambles or take their chances 'on their own' but inside the EU. But the fact remains that they are a country that is very unhappy about being dragged out of the EU to become a province of the UK again.

What is the same about the NI is that they are also a country that wants to remain in the EU and is also being dragged out to become not even a full province of the UK but more like an overseas colony of the UK. On the upside though, they don't have to go it on their own to escape the UK, they will re-unite with their neighbours and automatically re-enter the EU.

Thread probably does need moving but the moderation of this board seem to move in mysterious ways 😀

Politics actually means something. Football doesn't.

You have a chance when it comes to football, politics means nothing. Left, Right, none of it matters. If you think there is any difference between labour and the tories you are a useful idiot.

A chance to what? Do you think your opinion will ever change football? That's being a useless idiot.

One man can change the law through politics. If you're so jaded not to believe it, that's absolutely fine.

Absolutely right. Nothing will change.

...except we might be eating poorer quality food when food standards are watered down as part of a trade agreement...

...and workers rights are diluted to make us more competitive in the global market...

...and to travel within the EU we will need travel documentation like a visa waiver program...

...and movement of goods across borders will become clad in red tape causing lorries to queue on the approach to ports...

...and we no longer have the right to live and work within other European countries...

...and EU funding will no longer be as readily available to support local causes, projects and businesses, affecting lives and jobs...

...and parts of the UK (Scotland and Northern Ireland) could well seek independence leaving England and Wales further isolated and irrelevant on the world stage...

All of these things could happen. Indeed some are more likely than not to happen. To suggest most of our lives won’t change is utterly incorrect. All of our lives will change. We wait now to see just how much.

Well put.
