NWC 239 Posted January 30, 2020 He would be a good fit for their under-creative side according to The Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/football/who-scored-blog/2020/jan/29/transfer-window-premier-league-clubs-chelsea-manchester-united-tottenham-villa-west-ham-watford
Terminally Yellow 2,448 Posted January 30, 2020 Thankfully a suggestion rather than an actual link. Emi seems to be one of the best kept secrets in the Premier League. I'd have expected clubs to be crawling over him given his more recent form and statistics that show him to be one of the most creative players around. Seems strange to me. Three things that would make potential buyers in top 6 think twice about Emi. 1. Set pieces....lack of quality 2. Goals.....lack of. 3. Sitting on floor after a robust tackle with arms outstretched waiting for a whistle that isn't coming. Reminiscent of early Christano , only Emi is older and more experienced than CR was in first prem season.

I'm not sure he's a secret anymore! I am sure plenty will have looked at him, may even be some concrete enquiries. Thing is, look how our own transfer dealings fly under the radar for the most part. I don't think we'll sell Emi this window at all, but when things are quiet under this regime (no links, wild speculation etc.) it worries me more! 🤣

Ronaldo still does that now at the age of 34. 😉

I have to agree that 2 in particular is the reason surely that the big boys have not been in this window.

They already have multiple set piece specialists 2. They'd be buying him for the creativity, not the goals. 3. It's a top 6 team, they all do that... Having said all of that, I really hope that those things put every other team in the world off him so we can enjoy him for the next 10+ years 😁
Nuff Said 5,131 Posted January 30, 2020 Plus the argument that gets trotted out when people suggest that our young defenders are worth £25-30 million - “they’re part of the worst defence in the PL” - surely applies at the other end too? In a better side, he would be more likely to score. After all he did last season.

I hope he stays another couple of years at least, hes good . Sort of Agree with most of what you wrote but top teams will demand goals from attacking midfielders, that's the difference between good and great. All my above points are valid concerns when valuing / assessing players.
vlad666 203 Posted January 30, 2020 For his first season in the premier league, playing for the bottom club he’s been excellent. The sky really is the limit and there’s no way he’ll be with us next season unless we pull off the great escape. Make the most of him this season.
dylanisabaddog 4,916 Posted January 30, 2020 I can't stand Liverpool but can't help thinking Emi would be a perfect fit for their team and style of play. Not so sure about Manchester Utd but I can't imagine anyone wanting to go there at the moment. Other than for the money.

He is just the player they need to keep continuity if one of there players gets injured or suspended. He's better than Shaqiri for a start.

Aggy 755 Posted January 30, 2020 I think he’d be perfect for Man Utd actually. In a 433 (or 4213) I could see him being a really good bet for a side like them. They’d now have Fernandes higher up providing more direct goal scoring threat, McTominay (or whoever) more defensive and Buendia pulling the strings between the two. Im also slightly surprised they didn’t try a cheeky bid for Pukki. Well publicised striker issues, Rashford out, Pukki shown he can score even in a side bottom of the league and I reckon Pukki (30 in March) might have been tempted even with an 18 month contract. Still their loss is our gain!
