East Rider 548 Posted January 26, 2020 Just thinking yesterday we put out virtually our strongest available 16 for an FA Cup game when there is an extremely important match next week end coming up. Has DF changed his view on this season and is he trying to salvage something via the Cup? Perhaps he has taken stock of our chances and feels going for a strong assault on the cup is the right way to go now, unlike the last two seasons. If so, this could turn out to be a decent season after all, especially if we reach the later rounds. Love a cup run...….
nutty nigel 7,509 Posted January 26, 2020 He always takes the cup seriously. Remember the epic games against Chelsea and Arsenal? Daniel also reiterated just last Friday that they're not waving the white flag and working towards their little miracle Not Toca's Miracle - Farke's Miracle. You lot can wave the white flag if you want to. I'm hoping to help with that miracle🙃
Branston Pickle 3,632 Posted January 26, 2020 Wins are certainly good for morale and can build momentum - particularly as we have generally been playing well without getting the rewards - as is beating a side like Burnley who we have to play again. It’s a tricky double-edged thing though, players say that when you’re winning the next game cant come round soon enough, but the obvious side-issue is injuries. lake district canary 4,531 Posted January 26, 2020 Well it looks to me after yesterday's performance that we have a very strong squad to attack both league and cup this season. The season is still in full flow and we still have everything to play for.
Crafty Canary 495 Posted January 26, 2020 Danny Murphy on MOTD described us as the best bottom of the table team he has seen. Mind you he also said the reasons we are bottom are that we don’t convert enough of our chances and we cannot defend.

Bit weird really when our best players are supposed to be the three young ones at the back and Teemu (plus Emi I guess).

Our tackle success rate is absolute shocking. The worst it has ever been for us in the Premier League, and the worst out of all Premier League sides this season. That goes throughout the team and is a symptom of not having enough physicality, probably in the middle of the park. It does make the signings of Rupp and Duda a bit strange as that does not address the situation. As a result opposition teams find it too easy to glide through our midfield when are dispossessed. Our passing accuracy is excellent, but keeping the ball is one thing.. we also need to be capable of winning it back when we lose it.

Oh yeah, we don't score goals and we've been bottom of the league for goals conceded. That's bottom of the five top European leagues for goals conceded, yeah that. Also the reasons we're getting relegated in a few weeks.
lake district canary 4,531 Posted January 26, 2020 Never....ever....ceases to amaze me how some people somehow "know" what is going to happen in the next games. The way this club is being run - and there is no doubt about this - it is seen as a developmental situation. We are developing - without pressure - week by week and match by match. The only question is if we can develop quickly enough to start turning those close matches we have into draws and wins, enough to make a difference. Some have made up their minds already, but that development process could see us improve more over the next few weeks, begin to get one or two results that leads us into a charge towards the end of the season - and who knows.......but to just to blanket say "we're down" is just - and I know people are entitled to their views - but it is just giving in. keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted January 26, 2020 It will take a miracle for us to stay up but not necessarily one to win the FA Cup. And how many more rounds before everyone plays their strongest side anyway. Last eight?
