Chairman says Canary Fans are mugs

Recommended Posts

Actually according to the article he doesn''t.

But Cullen is taking us for fools if he thinks we believe the club will put in another 5,000 seats on top of City stand any time soon, we can''t even afford £50k, so unless Delia willing to inject £10m, this is not going to happen any other way, so why bother saying it.

It could be that the club are in a far more healthy financial state than they are prepared to admit to. It might be a case of there are funds available, but the board are unsure whether to allocate them to bricks and mortar or invest them in the playing staff. A 5,000 seater extension to the City Stand would be a bit of a gamble. How often would we fill all those extra seats, unless the team are playing  Premiership football?

I well remember Bob Chase having a passionate romance with bricks and mortar Pete, and look how that all turned out?.

surely it depends on how many fans are in the queue for season tickets?   I don''t know how many there are, but I bets it''s more than 2,500.

The club won''t just have the money for the extension sitting in the bank earning interest, they will borrow more money to build it with a view to getting extra gate receipts and paying back the loan.   Do you pay for everything with cash?    Does any business pay for everything with cash?    Of course not,  come on.

If there is this money available it ought to be spent on players, oops forgot Worthy would have it to spend not a good move.

We may have sold 20k season tickets last year, 2k on list, suggest we gauge the list after this season allocation, the fair weather fans will fall away.  If we still have a waiting list then perhaps extend.  Don''t really think we have too much dosh sitting in the bank, taking on credit to pay for extension for a support you might not be able to attract doesn''t appear to be very prudent, although it is certainly ambitious.

Surely it’s not that hard to grasp, all you have to do is read the front page of the website.

The club announces the draft proposals for the realisation of the club’s property asset along the river this week.  The club are allowing the planners to guide their application to stand the very best chance of obtaining a planning consent as soon as possible.

This scenario allows for one of two things to happen, they either agree a ‘subject to planning’ deal with a developer now whereby on award of planning the pre agreed price is paid to club.  Alternatively they wait until consent is granted and then go out into the market and attract best bids.

The scheme one or the other will provide tens of thousands of developable square feet which given its location will be worth millions to the club.  The proceeds of which I imagine will in part be reinvested back into the property asset base, namely a revised City Stand. Simple hey?

But there again as a Radio Norfolk phone in caller once so wisely said

“It was definitely offside Roy; I heard it on the radio”

calm down folks, any additional tier would use private finance to build the stand because we cannot borrow any more money. it''s a bit of a PFI thing - but i am dead against these sorts of things - just look at the N&N hospital.

Lets face it Mr Cullen is the king of spin. Don''t you think that supporting a football club is one of the most frustrating forms of consumerism that there is. At least Andrew is good at demisting the Community Stand''s windows when the going gets HOT.

Come on Delia! Let''s be having you write another series of bestselling cookery books [:D]

Seriously though, I wouldn''t mind a 2nd tier on the Geoffrey Watling Stand especially if it went over Carrow Road as that would be cool, but not at the expense of selling Deano this season.

Love the last bit and as for the rest...some people are just too clever for this Board.

You missed the point that said if it was a sustained demand, so yes they are going to wait and see what happens.

Surely even you don''t put all your money into one pot?

You put some money away for electricity, some for rates, some for rent - and then if you have to spend more than you have saved on electricity the last thing you want to do is raid the rent money.

City, no doubt, have different budgets for different things; councils do, the Government do.

Unless, that is, you are like my son - one pot for booze, another for wimun and another for fags. He never borrows from one pot to another - he just dips into dear old dad''s pockets!
