or will the Len McCuskyies of this world continue to support the hardliners?

Keep up. He is retiring😜

Well I did warn you. Len might be retiring but until he goes he remains in charge. This is what was in today's telegraph concerning payouts being made by the Labour party to those members affected by the anti-semitism row:

Len McCluskey, the leader of the Unite union, has warned Sir Keir Starmer he cannot take its money for granted after a decision to offer payouts to whistleblowers who accused the party of failing to tackle anti-Semitism.

Mr McCluskey,  the union’s general secretary, on Sunday warned Unite would review its funding of the Labour Party and called the payouts "an abuse of members' money".

Labour agreed to pay "substantial damages" to whistleblowers who contributed to a TV expose of its handling of anti-Semitism, but Mr McCluskey said “a lot” of the funds came from his union.

“I'm already being asked all kinds of questions by my executive,” he told the Observer.

"It's as though a huge sign has been put up outside the Labour party with 'queue here with your writ and get your payment over there'."

McCluskey is a useful fool for the Starmer team. Articles like this are just noise, but useful noise, in that they give the appearance of Starmer standing up to the Unions. Even though, in fact, the Corbynista left have kargely been sidelined in Starmer's first hundred days. Just look at RLB, she went from being Corbyn's successor in waiting to being sacked by Starmer. And there was nothing the Corbynistas could do but suck it up.

Well that Jeremy Corbyn won't go into quiet retirement, will he?

The documents he was attacking the government with over the NHS were stolen by Russian hackers. So how did Corbyn get them?  Does he have an account with Lubyanka?

The documents were actually true as well as they were stolen from Liam Fox. Strange thing reality.

Well we'd know exactly wouldn't we, if only the government and our intelligence services hadn't decided to ignore Russian interference into this country's affairs - and then tried to conceal the fact.

We should all be grateful that Liam Fox is a former medical professional.

They were published on reddit at the time for anyone to read.....no subterfuge required.

So far the Tories have not attempted to deny the veracity of this document not to refute any of what is stated.

Are we to then assume that what it contains is true ?

If so it is an acknowledgement by brexit Tories that all that has been stated by Remainers about brexit is true.

Brexit was, and still is, little more than a means of the right to cut down production costs by reducing wages, removing workplace and environment protection etc

For Russia any break up of the EU weakens what it sees is a growing threat to it's influence over countries close to it's border, by a growing EU.

It may make sense for the US and Russia to act in their own best but separate interests. Which would include paying those who can easily be bought.

What doesn't make sense, is those who still cannot see what is now blindingly obvious, but cling to some long disproved lies.... in the hope that the likes of Johnson, Farage, Putin and Trump are not lying to them.

why did him and Rees-Mogg take no action when it was first reported to them ?

"Earlier it emerged that the alleged victim claimed to have spoken with Mr Spencer on 1 April – over four months ago – before going to the police with allegations of rape, sexual assault and coercive control against the unnamed MP."

"On Sunday, Labour frontbencher Jess Phillips said it was “shocking” that the Conservative whip had not been withdrawn from the former minister, while the Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran said the Conservative whips’ office should “think again” about putting its decision over a suspension on hold until the conclusion of a police investigation."

Jess Philips and Layla Moran?  You'd be better quoting Laurel and Hardy.

I don't care what you think of them personally.

Do you think an alleged rapist should still have the whip of your party?

For those of you waiting for the latest Survation, Tories will be pleased in the circumstances to add another 3 points to their lead, giving them an 8 point margin over Labour. Boris will be pleased to see he has 7 point margin over Starmer in the “Who Would Make the Best Prime Minister” stakes, less pleased that his public approval rating is neutral whereas Starmer’s is a healthy plus 9. The public is warming to Starmer slightly, still not keen on his party though. Starmer’s left-wing enemies are still demanding to know when the 20-point lead Tony Blair forecast will appear… 😀

Fair to give Starmer credit, done well despite having done nothing other than "not being Corbyn"

So you think it isn't serious? And that women don't feel threatened? Your views are so narrow.

If anyone raped my wife I would want to kill them, and would be ropeable if the authorities hid them.

That's as good as it will get for Max Headroom 🙃

YouGov research found Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has pulled ahead of Boris Johnson on the key measure of preferred PM

Another top political insight from Jools. Even more epic fail. 😀

Starmer's doing well. A credible leader. All he has to do is let the chickens come home to roost in the next year and bide his time.

I would imagine after the A level debacle the Tories are in even more trouble. My slight criticism on Labour's response (Raynor) would be not to run so fast to class' divide or inequality on the now abandoned scheme (or other fiascos no doubt already brewing).  The truth was whatever your background - rich or poor the ludicrous politically inept algorithm (or more specifically those who specified and tested it) failed ALL children and their parents alike whatever their background and likely especially hurt the middle class Tory parents as much as any other. These are the voters Labour needs to capture! Represent them!

That as an aside always reminds of a conversation I once had with Ted Heath on Comprehensive Education - The true reason it was introduced (by one Margaret Thatcher hence Ted's delight in telling the story) was whereas Grammar schools and the 11 plus were wonderful if you passed / got in - and an excellent escape for bright working class kids too - but by definition most would fail including those children from middle class Tory voters - who then didn't like being 2nd class citizens! Moral is the traditional Tory voter can be wooed / represented by Labour too (i.e Blair) who saw things for what they were and put aside the 'class war''. Facts not myths.

It might be Labour are trying to reclaim lost 'working class' voters by playing the 'toffs v us' card and this stage, and also recognise that Johnson et al are doing the job of disillusioning 'middle class Tories voters better than they could.

As it raises the age-old conundrum of whether a Labour arty should drift further to the left (Foot, Corbyn) to counter a right wing government, or move to occupy more of the middle ground  (SDP, Blair)but risk alienating many of it'd own natural supporters as they feel left behind......ripe for BNP/Brexit/Farage type lies

Yes Bill but I don't see this as principally a left /right issue - just a right / wrong issue! It may have slightly biased against poorer schools (by accident and ignorance) but that was secondary to it's basic gross injustice to all - and that was what hurts the average voter and parent/child the most! Low hanging fruit.

The Tories used to sell themselves as the party for aspiration.

What they've shown themselves to be is the party for exasperation.
