TCCANARY 263 Posted January 20, 2020 The bulk of the midweek games are starting at 19:30 instead of 19:45. Is there any reason for this as they don't seem to be televised/streamed by Amazon?
lake district canary 4,531 Posted January 20, 2020 VAR has decided it has to be 7.30 starts. The machines have taken over. 2
lappinitup 629 Posted January 20, 2020 It's for the benefit of all those folk who leave five or ten minutes before the end of the game. By finishing earlier, they will be able to stay until the end. 1

Branston Pickle 3,652 Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) Several live games on BT this week (2 each day) but we aren’t one of them - it does seem odd that kickoff was brought forward. There’s currently a fair number of tickets left in home areas (starting at £42) if anyone is interested in going as a ‘neutral/football tourist’. VAR has reviewed the kick off time and after deliberating for 5 minutes has now changed it to 11.47 pm just to p1ss everyone off😂
Matt Juler 148 Posted January 20, 2020 I do wonder if it's is due to the VAR impact. There are well drilled plans in place at many grounds for crowd dispersal after games, particularly if many punters use trains (as is the case at Spurs). All you need is a couple of VAR delays and a 7.30pm k/o match is going to be finishing not much before a "traditional" 7.45pm k/o would. If the same happened with a 7.45pm k/o match, many of the trains making extra stops will be picking up fresh air.
keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted January 20, 2020 I always remember mid week games as 7.15pm kick off. Obviously today, it is primarily for television and media coverage. But there is more stoppage time, which is fair, but it is virtually 20 minutes half time and now with VAR it is possible if we bring Burnley back in the FA Cup and it is screened that it could be very late at night if there is stoppage time, VAR added time, extra time and penalties. Yes if anyone wants to go just sign up and print your ticket at home. Tried it as far as ticket in the basket and it seemed to work. To be fair Spurs are just treading water and the visitors are hardly ' must sees ' so if you can sit on your hands for the 90 mins now's your chance to see their new stadium. There's no telling when we'll be back. You can always say you're just ' doing the 92 ' 😉
......and Smith must score. 1,341 Posted January 20, 2020 The Srurs website says it's been moved to 7.30 " in order to move it into line with other matches elsewhere which have been selected for live television coverage in the UK ". Whatever that means as I don't remember it happening with midweek matches before ...
Branston Pickle 3,652 Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) That reason is odd: there’s three games on Wednesday, two are live on BT with one kicking off at 7:30 and the other at 8:15, so it could have easily been at either or neither of those. Tuesday’s games are mostly 7:30 but so what. It being London I’m a little surprised it wasn’t 8 or 8:15. Edited January 20, 2020 by Branston Pickle
