Poor loan signings again.

Recommended Posts

why have we wasted money on Amadou (played when we were desperate but now out of the picture completely) 56 year old tettey starting ahead of him....

Farhman, paying 55k a week for his loan so I hear, pointless.

Roberts, pointless again.

all of these surely come with loan fees too.

Dont think webber is doing the greatest job on that front.

Amadou should have been playing, simple as that - one poor half v Saints after a great performamce v Arsenal and he’s been permanently benched ever since…a total waste of a good player.

Amadou's disappearance from pitch action is truly baffling in recent games where we have run out of steam and lost leads?

I'd like to know your source for these, especially that Tettey is 56!

With a bit of defence here

Farhman is probably as ****** off as you op. Came as 1st choice goalkeeper Krul moved up a level. Fair play to Farke for not just playing him. After saying that there are not many teams with as good as Farman on the bench. Bet Villa wished they had him now.

Amadou without him we would of really struggled at the back. Not sure what has happened, but maybe there is something in the loan contract that says if he plays x games we have to sign him for £10m, maybe they don’t feel he is quite adapted for the EPL yet. Let’s face it Byram is class but took an injury to dislodge the holder in that position.

Roberts is different. That’s not been good and I don’t suppose we will ever know what happened here.

So to sum up all 3 of them probably think they have wasted a season. I don’t think 2 out of 3 were bad and the 3rd who knows.

That's true. If Farke 'does'nt fancy him' then he shouldn't be on the bench should he! I have no issues with Farke picking Tetty ahead of the guy to start a match but not to bring him on around the 65 minute of these games when even a blind person could see that some players were 'running on empty' is truly mystifying. Still that's Farke for you. He has a strict pecking order of team selection and then substitutions and that ain't gonna change. It's in his DNA and that, my friends, has zilch to do with 'lack of investment' .

I’d like to think the the presence of Amadou and Fahrmann in the squad has increased the performance levels of Krul and Tettey far beyond what most people expected. I would agree though that ideally you want expensive loans to come in and cement starting spots and improve the team.

Agree with this.

But one thing I will say (and I said it before and got roundly panned for it) I don't think Amadou is actually that good at all. Tettey looks way better when he's played and is more of a leader with more heart for Norwich City than some. He's been here a long while, after all, and is fully deserving of his position imo.

Amadou lacks consistency. Good against Arsenal in his DM position (without doing anything too outstanding, mind) then absolutely shocking against Southampton and rightly hoiked off at half-time.

Our signings have been poor, though, I agree. Byram the only one who really looks like he can hold down a starting berth.

Amadou has not been given a run in his proper position. He looks like a strong box to box player to me.

I think the fact that Amadou is our only central defence cover plays on Farkes mind. If he plays him and something happens to the central defenders, there is no backup (and with him playing, it increases the chances he picks up a knock).

The one player we all said we needed was a quality holding midfielder, someone able to break up play and impose a bit of steel and strength in that midfield area. I do still worry we don't have that.

Amadou barely been given a chance to show whether he can be that man.

Perhaps, but he also looks like he has the technical ability of a 'strong box' thus far, so I can see why he's been bench-warming.

Maybe Tettey is just the better all round option right now. I dunno

Tettey is having a great season imho.

I don't know why we all think we're experts! I'll trust Farke's decisions.

I'm just calling it like I see it. Amadou has not really been very good. Simple.

Tettey way more deserving of his place in my opinion. We don't see what goes on in training, Nayull...

I’d expect Amadou to play on Saturday and Ralf if fit. Drmic’s signing is arguably the worst though as he’s going to be on significant money and has barely even been in the squad. Leaving us with Dennis as the only real back-up to Pukki, which clearly isn’t enough or of the right calibre.

Very good point! Part of the purpose of the squad is to provide challenge.

Far too early to judge on Drmic. Iwan Roberts was absolute gash for the whole of his first season and yet went on to become a club legend.

Agree that our loans have not excited very much. Think Amadou will not be signed permanently.

Fahrman is pointless is he???  If Krul was injured and we only had McGovern or Oxborough as cover I'm sure you'd have been on here in a shot bellyaching about the lack of quality cover.

And what do you mean by the 'again' in the thread title. Do you think that Jordan Rhodes was a poor loan signing last season?

As great a player as Tettey is for this club, there's something wrong if Amadou can't get in the team ahead of him or at least give him a break over Christmas. Tettey was knackered in the second half last night and in a couple of games recently his fatigue and lack of pace has been exposed.

Perhaps Amadou is not fully fit or maybe there's some issue behind the scenes and he doesn't want to stay.

It really isn't that simple though, is it.

He's only played 105 minutes of football in his preferred and specialist position. for 90 minutes he was fantastic against Arsenal, followed by a difficult 15 minutes at Southampton - before being pulled into a very unfamiliar right side back three, to which he understandably struggled.

He should be given more game time in his proper position. Furthermore, he's actually done a decent job as a makeshift centre half. He certainly didn't come here to play that position. I suspect another summer signing hugely frustrated.

I think you could have hinted at something like that happening Peanuts. Only recently didn't Amadou say something along the lines of the future being uncertain, that he might not be around and that he had to decide. Obviously, he also alluded to a positive choice in signing for us at the outset yet reading his words made me think he wasn't one to stay. Could be wrong of course.

I see Roberts has gone to Boro

A slight exaggeration but the OP has made a fair challenge. Probably the worst crop of loanees for some while, when you compare to the likes of Jordan Rhodes.

With the exception of Byram our first XI consists of last season's players which explains why we are where we are. To be fair DF won't be mugged off by unsuitable players, if they aren't good enough he won't play them no matter what his boss thinks.

I’d imagine part of the issue with Amadou is adapting to the English game and it’s speed, many foreigners have trouble initially if they’ve not played over here before.
