Kingston Yellow 259 Posted January 1, 2020 But this season’s disasterous campaign (the latest of how many by the current owners ) is not the fault of the brilliant coaching team, nor the fault of VAR (although it has hampered things massively and the deployment has been a complete disgrace). No, the fault lays with the Board and it’s incompetent strategic planning. What a shame. Happy to wave Webber goodbye. Hope we can keep hold of Farke. season’s disaster ( the latest of how

kick it off 2,062 Posted January 1, 2020 (edited) Over the last week, we have conceded after a throw in given to Villa utterly bizarrely despite it being clear the Villa player dribbled it out of play. They go up the other end and score. Where is VAR for the clear and obvious error there? Spurs - VAR called Pukki offside despite him clearly being onside because they used a frame that happened 5 years after Vrancic played the ball (and even then he was still onside) Today VAR has played Wickham onside by using a frame that appeared to be a frame or two early and on the correct frame he would probably have been off. I'm ****ing ecstatic to be going down and get away from this nonsense, but to say it's had marginal impact is dubious - Every time it goes to review it goes against us. Even so far as to reverse the red card against Sheff Utd which was fully deserved as it clearly was dangerous play. It has cost us at least 4 points (Villa and Spurs) and possibly another today. PS Your post is stupid. Webber got us up by spending almost nothing. Why on earth would we get rid? Edited January 1, 2020 by kick it off
Indy_Bones 444 Posted January 1, 2020 We've lost a possible 7 points in the last 3 matches, but clearly VAR has nothing to do with it...
Branston Pickle 4,131 Posted January 1, 2020 Clearly. Var was brought in to only overrule clear and obvious errors. My **** it does.

Indy_Bones 444 Posted January 1, 2020 VAR should only be used for offside if there is a possible disagreement between the ref and assistant. This auto check system is nonsense.
Surfer 1,547 Posted January 1, 2020 (edited) Here is a sequence of frames from behind the goal (from the EFL Highlights) Now in which of these frame is Wickham NOT offside? Possibly in only one of them. He's "offside" in frames 1 and 2, maybe not offside in frame 3, clearly offside in frames 4 and 5. The AVR instructions are to use the first frame AFTER the ball has been struck by the passer - so frame 4 not frame 3 - with his momentum he must have been further forward than Zimmerman's static foot then.... So thank you again for nothing VAR. (p.s. you can clearly see why the Linesman correctly flagged for offside) Edited January 1, 2020 by Surfer

They don't seem to be consistently following their own rules about which frame is to be used... it should be the first one AFTER the ball has been kicked. Not the one it is kicked, or the second one after it is kicked. Edited January 1, 2020 by Surfer
