Maddison went far too cheaply because we were desperate again for money. Maybe Norwich are learning at last.

Nope. More nonsense from a nonsense poster. Hating the club's dealings for the sake of something to b**ch about once again. Shock.

He was a Championship player who had a cracking full season. Nobody is paying more than the circa 20-24m Leicester paid.

You are looking at it in hindsight, which cannot be done in transfer situations like this.

The price was fair all round. Leicester took a gamble, it paid off. We got a rather nice price for what he was.

Playing Devil's advocate, what Championship player (ever, from history, take your pick) would you be happy with us spending in excess of that sort of money on, even today, with prices inflating by the day?

None. Exactly.

Please can people stop posting this. Such deals are no longer allowed in the Premier League.

True, but what about an agreement for him to sign in the summer for said amount?

He'd be on our books until then, at the end of the season the paperwork goes through, done.

And he does his ACL in the second half of the season? Would the buying club still be prepared to stump up the 'agreed' fee?

If it's an agreed transfer, then yes.

Like how we agreed to sign RvW in the Feb, with him joining in the summer, would be the same thing for Aarons to move.

If he gets injured, then that's the risk you take for guaranteeing the signing early rather than a summer bidding war.

We were soft on the Maddison transfer because we had to sell and other clubs knew that, he was a 30m player but it was either accept Leicesters offer, delay and not be able to strengthen that summer or keep him and go bankrupt. With the Murphey's and Pritchard we got a good price, theres no reason to believe going forwards this set up won't be able to get good prices for our players.

In that past though yeah, we've been soft touches and I'm glad that's behind us.
