No, that would only be accurate to a few metres at very best. Perhaps VAR might consider dual-frequency receivers

At the end of the day you can have all the technology that you want but the final decision still has to be made by a human, whether that be the ref or the VAR official.

As we have seen this weekend, nothing has moved on in terms of making the final decision. In fact, things have got worse.

If you take the Pukki goal and the Wolves goal then it is interesting to note that in both cases neither the ref, the linesman, the opposing players or the crowd thought that they were offside.

Everybody involved would have been happy for those goals to stand.

But we now have this ridiculous situation where somebody is now spending 3 or 4 minutes looking at numerous replays from different angles and drawing lines on still images trying as hard as the can to find a reason to disallow what were, under the spirit of the law as it has stood since the game was first played, perfectly good goals.

Maybe the should rename VAR as GPO - Goal Prevention Official

Now in my opinion that is not what football is about.

Then of course you have the bias factor.

Did they want us to go 2 up against Spurs. Did they want Wolves to equalise against Liverpool.

Of course the answer is debateable but the more you see, the more you wonder.

Are we are sacrificing entertainment, excitement and goals to ensure the right result for Foreign TV audiences who only want to see the big clubs winning.

When you start tinkering to the extent that we are now seeing then football will soon find itself in big trouble. The game is in danger of losing all credibility with supporters and if this carries on then attendances and viewing figures will start to drop.

If you give too much power to organisations like the EPL and Sky they will eventually abuse their position and destroy the game as we know it.

I thought about this too, but what happens when the two linesmen disagree on one side of the pitch? Wouldn't work.

Best thing to do is just scrap VAR and accept that the ref gets things wrong sometimes. Keep the goal line technology which actually looks to be fit for purpose.

What no one can deny or disagree on is that VAR is killing the most fundamental reason any of us go to a match or watch a match...and that is the spontaneous joy and celebration of seeing your team score a goal.

That is gone under the current system and without that, most of us would eventually stop going to football matches.

Money corrupts... football is funded by the armchair fan with their Sky subs, this change is designed for your HD television and not the man in the stands.

I dread to think how else the authorities can mess with football.

I would think a couple of high frame rate fixed overhead cameras would do it. Need some very stable mounts though, & some decent software to run it.

Managers wanted VAR to overturn howlers. When Ferguson could be sat in a dug out 40 metres away and still see a handball, foul or offside.

None of them wanted this. Pukki's goal would never have been questioned last season. "Too tight to call" would have been the explanation. Spurs may have half heartedly stuck their arms in the air but even they wouldn't have crowed if the goal had stood.

In 2010, in a WC match, Lampard had a perfectly good goal discounted. Since then, goal line technology has done a brilliant and quick job of avoiding this happening, at the highest level.

If Harry Kane had scored a goal like Pukki's for England and had it ruled out, then a few foreign bars would have had a spot of bother. But now it is meekly accepted by all. Lots of talk, lots of posts on here.

I think the setup they have is perfectly fine for what it is intended to do - spot clear and obvious errors with the naked eye. The problem is how the Premier League have implemented things, and attempted to go beyond this with complete disregard for the limitations of the technology, and more importantly, the spontaneity which partly makes up the essence of football. 

Give the benefit to the attacker, and go with the on-field decision unless it is a clear offside. This should have been the obvious approach to anybody who has a keen interest in the sport and understands the current VAR technology, and it begs the question how nobody in power had the obvious foresight to see the absolute mess that has occurred so far this season.

The Premier League are not one of the first adopters of VAR; yet this season is becoming the most farcical. Whoever is responsible for this implementation, given that they have the benefit of seeing how VAR has been utilised in other leagues and competitions, should probably be fired for gross incompetence.
