Cut adrift

Recommended Posts

4 points from safety and Leicester away next.

Vardy & co will be licking their lips at the prospect

We have absolutely zero chance of getting out of this except via the trap door.

The last 2 games have shown that the players have all but given up.

We are looking ready to abandon ship. A win would have dragged us right back into a position where we could make a stab at saving ourselves. But losing at home to the two teams we cam up with doesn't bode well.

We’re done. Yes there will be some posters on here banging on about throwing in the towel etc but we’re simply nowhere near good enough for this league. I honestly thought we were going to be the seasons surprise package and achieve an entertaining mid table finish with our brand of brave, attacking football. That brave, attacking football has deserted us and we’ve got nothing as a back up. The team we’ve watched today and against Southampton are unrecognisable to the team that played so freely and bravely at Anfield

This result is a bitter one to take, damaging & demoralising, having led at half-time at home following a decent performance. It's frustrating - not that bad overall, but just simply not good enough. The positivity & momentum following promotion was shattered by the injuries and in general we probably overestimated the ability of this squad to be competitive and underestimated the gap between top 6 Champo & bottom 6 Prem. It was always going to be a huge challenge. We tend to switch off too frequently & get punished, fail to take advantage of the 'purple patches', to leak goals a bit too easily, struggle to score, struggle to come from behind and generally just lack that bit of quality & experience.

Even if money is made available in January, it's looking likely we'll be seen as a busted flush to attract the quality of player needed to help point the ship in the right direction. It must be infuriating for DF. Each negative result leaves too much to do during the second half of the season and drains the players' confidence. A shame. Will we look back in time at this season as a real missed opportunity?

Nope, I don't think we will look back on it as a missed opportunity, quite simply because you can't keep having missed opportunities.

Well Delia will be delighted that we are in the PL, she will be delighted with the progress made to get us here ahead of schedule, she will be delighted when the team wins and disppointed when we lose. Bit like the rest of us, really, wouldn't you say?

The supporters have, not so sure about our defence!

Disagree with the giving up part, that's just nonsense hyperbole.

It currently looks like our style of play and coaching etc isnt going to enough to balance out the fact we have a massively inexperienced squad of players including some particularly young ones.

But it's not over yet and I'm sure there will be some more twists and turns in a League where despite our massively struggling start in this division we only find ourselves 4 points adrift.

We didn't improve on what we had in the summer.

Quite simple really. We are just not good enough to go on a decent run of results.

Complete total and utter rubbish!!

There has been absolutely no lack of effort at all this season. A lack of Premiership class and experience, yes, but a lack of effort, absolutely not!!!

What does this even mean?

We are 2nd bottom, about to go away to one of the most in form teams in the league, after the last two performances we look poor, devoid of ideas and confidence

I think our supporters are being pretty patient. But no amount of backbone changes the reality that both statistically and based on performance we look certain to go down.

Yes people are upset and acting that way (I don’t exactly agree with all the OPs comments) but why are they wrong exactly to feel the way they do, honestly I’d like an answer? Any neutral would have us down already based on the evidence.

I still hope we don't go down, but I think most people are at that stage, just hoping now.

No, we're not cut adrift. Even Watford aren't.

We're drifting away, that's for sure, & I'm not sure we can turn it around; we certainly won't unless we show a consistent level of determination throughout the rest of the season.

Our passing has lost the slick sharpness of last season. Balls are half a yard behind team mates or too far in front, played too slow or too fast. It's partly down to better opposition, partly to the resultant lack of self-confidence.

Time for Daniel to earn his corn. It's no good talking about the 'unbelievable quality' of the opposition, Daniel, you have to find a way to inspire your own team. Otherwise we're sunk.

Played 16. 11 points.

Nearly half the season gone and we have just over a quarter of the points required to stay up, we can’t defend to save our lives, we concede first half leads to teams that finished below us last season and we’ve lost games to our relegation rivals in recent weeks.

What is there to feel good about Lakey? Honestly?

There's always hope. Always. And there is always a good performance in us - we know that, we've seen it several times this season. Today wasn't one of them, at least the second 45 minutes wasn't, but there is more to come from us.  The first half today showed that and ok, we faltered in the second half, but that does not define the season.  What defines the season is how we react to the setbacks in the coming weeks.

What about the setbacks over the last 16 weeks?

He prefers not to dwell on results in the “distant past” and would rather take encouragement from our current great “form”...

It's what happens in the next sixteen weeks that is important, not the last sixteen weeks!

Why the hell can't some people be miserable after another home defeat? There is no disloyalty or disgrace in saying that some of us feel like shi-te and our weekend is ruined.

We can't all look at it clinically and say oh well its what we are. We will analyse at the appropriate time. But now is a time for moaning and groaning about a performance that promised something different but in the end produced more of the same.

Yes we still have a chance. Yes there are plenty of games to come. But be honest for once and say you feel like crying after that second half. Show some emotion rather than Data from Star Trek.

And you are as wrong as many times as you are right.

Yes because that’s how a league competition works, 16 weeks of practice matches in preparation for the following 🤦‍♂️

I am sure that will be included in your Monday lecture which usually follows a day like today Lakey.
