Do you think we will stay up?

I certainly haven't given up hope yet but recognise that it is going to be a struggle. The injuries at the start of the season limited our "promotion bounce" and since then we have been trying to catch up.

Obviously I would have liked a win last night but I think it is silly to read too much into one game. Our performances at home are always likely to be more important and with this in mind, the performances against Villa and Watford were far more concerning. I am hoping that these can be at least partially attributed to the injury crisis. We can't afford too many of the same type of no-show, particularly at home.

On a positive side, I take some comfort that we have not given away a goal from open play in the last three games, which suggests that we have tightened up somewhat, but obviously we have to improve at set pieces if this is to count for much.

The other issue is how we deal with teams that press us high, which caused us to give away possession so much last night - how do we keep the defensive solidity whilst retaining the ability to pass our way out from the back - a recall for Leitner or Vrancic or, like last night, move McLean back?

Home games remaining:

Shef U

Wolves

Spurs

Palace

Bournemouth

Liverpool

Leicester

Southampton

Everton

Brighton

West Ham

Burnley

On paper, quite a few games you would give us a decent chance of winning there. if we are to stay up I reckon we will need to win about 7 out of 12 and pick up a couple of away wins as well.

A tough ask but not completely out of the question, especially if we can get 3 points on Sunday.

We were always going down, but as long as the players put in their best, there’s no blame.

Farke isn’t interested in changing his style and mentality which I totally agree with, the players are all bar a few have zero premiership experience, we’ve spent the least amount due to budget restrictions.....yet we’ve won away and beaten Man City, so there’s always the chance of a decent run putting enough points on the board, but don’t hold your breath.......relegation is pretty much going to happen, with a slim chance of staying up.

If you can accept it, you can move on and enjoy this season for what it is. Yesterday first half wasn’t good enough for effort, that’s not acceptable, but losing by playing like we did the second half is acceptable.

Hold very little hope for us;

We will pick some points up and some against teams we're not expected to but an inability to see us compete with teams around will see us down and probably bottom.

Norwich City are not going to win games until such time as they start getting a run of clean sheets and I don't see that happening any time soon given the mentality of everyone connected with the club, especially numpty fans.

It isn't a case of towel throwing, more a case of being realistic. We just don't have that little bit of extra quality needed.

Ahhhh realism.

You can't choose that Smiffy. Realism is what actually happens. Anything else is pure conjecture...

The defence has never been good enough and would have suffered even without the injuries. That much was patently obvious last season. My hope that we would survive was more from the heart than the head and is obviously not going to be realised.

I shall enjoy the season never the less.

Do I think we will stay up? No I don't. But we still could.

And with that acceptance I will enjoy the rest of this season and next season too.

You can shape the course of events if there is the will to do so, but here at this club there is no will, only abject acceptance of one's lot.

Yep, one city strong could well make the difference.

My desire for my club to be a pl club next season unfortunately is not matched by the clubs ambition to be there so gutted to say its chumps for us next season. So want to be wrong and us to survive and build a team for a sustained spell in the top flight . We're up and down like a bride's nightie.

No. Not a chance.

We just aren't the sort of club that has the fight or the stomach to put a run of wins together - when you consider we have already lost 10 of 15 games and it's not even Christmas yet, it will soon be getting to the point where we can't afford to lose many more.

We won't spend because come January either we'll decide it's not worth spending, or transfer targets will go to other clubs who look like they have a better chance of staying up.

Sad to say, but it's all so typical Norwich. Another woeful top flight season is on the cards.

I can't see three teams worse than us if I'm honest. I agree it's still possible to turn things around if we can put a run together, but the odds are very much against it.

Ultimately I just don't think our players are good enough for this league. We have some talented youngsters who I'm sure will continue to develop and would certainly look better in a stronger team, but taken as a whole they aren't good enough.

It says it all about the strength of the squad when Tettey is still one of our best players despite being several years past his prime.

When we got promoted ,I thought with the addition of one or two good signings in the summer and some good loan players we would stay up ,(like Sheff utd) unfortunately we did not make good signings ,and some of the players we already had have shown they are not premier leauge standard .so now i believe we have absolutely no chance of survival we are already 4 points from a safe place ,having played Watford and Southampton and lost its not looking good. Could be all over by the end of Christmas with a mountain to climb

I don't think we've got enough strong physical players. Tettey changed the game last night, but he seemed the only one to show desire going forward.

For all the trickery of our players Hernandez and Cantwell were constantly outmuscled, and Stieperman continues to offer nothing when he comes on, being one of our more physical players.

We're not cut adrift just yet but we are on the brink. Until such time we still have hope. Beat Sheff Utd and that will give us a big boost and 2 wins and a draw from our last 4 matches.

Reinforcements in January are a must though as another injury to one of our CBs and it's probably game over.

We knew it would be hard this season and if anything it's even harder than when we previously in this league. I don't think we were prepared for the physicality or the pressing we face each game. So many teams are in perpetual survival mode now and are adapting there style to be hard to beat. We're not good at competing against those types of teams. Even Man City are struggling a bit in relative terms to break down teams like they used to.

And we need to stop this perpetual passing back to Krul. Lost count last night, and thought we were continuously putting ourselves under pressure.

SO are we still looking for a Tettey replacement in midfield, as he can't go on forever, or is Amadou still adjusting to this league (tbf that was only his 2nd game in that position for us)

Indeed, they only managed to score 8 more than we did at Southampton

I think we have to win on Sunday for so many reasons, anything less and I think we’re dead and buried.

On the positive side, if Brighton & Newcastle both lose tonight the we are within a maximum of 5 points of of 7 clubs with Watford below us.

Now if, and I know it's a big if, we could string together a couple of wins and a couple of draws before January we could then be within touching distance, or ahead, of some of those clubs above us.

Fact is, even though we've lost to most of them, Everton, Southampton, Brighton, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham and Bournemouth are not that much better than us and they all have problems of varying degrees.

None of them are brilliant or consistant but all of them are capable of having a bad run of games and losing several on the trot.

We've seen it happen time and time again in the PL when a Club looks safe at Christmas but then can't win a game for a couple of months. This season will be no different and I think that there will be at least 2, maybe 3, that will be catchable if we pick up a couple of quick wins.

A defiicit of between 1 and 5 points covering 8 teams in a league of this nature is nothing.

Two wins and you move up a couple of places, two loses and another team drops a couple of places and suddenly we have a completely different picture.

However, we must sharpen up our game and think about what were doing a bit more.

And then, who knows.

It's maybe not quite as done & dusted as most people think.

There are three main areas of concern that we'd need to fix and I can't see us fixing all three.

1- Defending from set pieces- this has been going on since Farke got here and doesn't show signs of changing.

2- Our ability to break down deeper lying defences- last season we had the quality to play our way through teams that chose to sit deep but we haven't been able to do that in the Premier League. If a team gets ahead we're very easy to play against as the opposition can sit back, give us the wide areas without fear and make us play through the middle.

3- Lack of variety/depth in the squad. Looking at the bench last night we had a lot of dainty playmakers but nobody with pace or real physicality (unless you count Srbeny which I don't really). When teams are ahead we don't have many options off the bench to give them something different to worry about- Southampton clearly were vulnerable to balls in behind but we didn't have the pace off the bench to exploit that.

.73 pts per game is nowhere near enough.

The problem being we keep creating “must win” games . Watford , Villa at home were must win. We didn’t .

It looks as if the points to stay up might be nearer 40 than usual. So even needing 38 ie 27 points from our remaining 21 games is putting us at 1.3 pts per game . Currently Spurs are 8th with 1.33 pts per game .

So we are looking at top 8 form to stay up.

Unlikely

No imo. Our defence is inexperienced and our midfield and attack lacks pace, running power, height, strength and composure.

We're basically the polar opposite of every other lower PL team. We have an exciting young side that we can be proud to support but surviving in this league is all about speed, physicality, counter attacks, long balls over the top, structured defending and being good at set pieces. Our side would survive comfortably in any other top European league, in the Premier League? Not for me, it would be nothing short of a miracle if we survive this year.

We'll stick with this team and manager, because they've earned that. But we're not cut out for this league and we'll come up short.
