CANARYKING 705 Posted December 3, 2019 Sitting fifth and this is a team I thought we had to finish above to stay up, what do I know!
Canary Wundaboy 1,423 Posted December 3, 2019 It's a crazy league this year. All the more important that we're up for it every single game. If we can find a consistency while teams around us are struggling for any we'll be safe with games to spare. Tomorrow is huge.

hogesar 10,697 Posted December 4, 2019 Makes our 2-0 loss their without a fit central defender and where we should have had a penalty not that disaster some made out...

If Bournemouth losing to Palace makes our loss to Palace less of a disaster than some made out, presumably Bournemouth beating Villa makes our loss to Villa more of a disaster than some made out? How about their draw with West Ham and win over Man Utd? Were we more disastrous against those two than everyone thought??

The conclusion I would draw is that there are no simple conclusions (also see: Brexit).
Trevor Hockey's Beard 604 Posted December 4, 2019 It is hard to believe that we didn't beat any of Palace, Bournemouth or Burnley, as they all looked poor last night. It's understandable that we didn't get anything against Man City... oh, hang on a minute...
Jim Smith 2,578 Posted December 4, 2019 The performances against Palace, Burnley, Brighton and Villa (and to a certain degree Watford although we were better there) are obviously a cause for great regret looking back. It really hurt us that we just let these pretty ordinary sides have 3 easy points with barely a wimper, especially as it came off the back of the Man City game. We have been much more ourselves in the last two games and I think its clear to see that the centre back situation (with the knock on effect that had on the midfield) really undermined us for those two months and has left us with a lot to do to retrieve the situation. Very frustrating but such is life!

Very frustrating but such is life! Yep, would have actually been better to have those injury problems when we have a run of fixtures against genuine top 6 sides - whilst it wouldn't have helped the goal difference there'd be a lot more 'average' teams in and around our position. However, we've also been a bit fortunate in that aside from the top 4, 5, maybe 6, the rest have been really inconsistent and the points gap is relatively small (8 points from us in 18th to Sheff United in 8th)
