Now that optimism levels are on the up...

Even though TvB has blocked me for pointing out the inacurracies in a couple of his posts and refusing to back down( naughty me, daring to challenge his authority), I'm gonna reply anyway. He may not see it unless he has a peek or someone quotes me , then it may slip through.

From everything stated by Webber etc. I really can't see us spending much at all, which is ok by me as I've bought into the plan as it is at the moment. Saturday showed what we can do, we just need to be a little more consistent , which with Zimbo back and the two sheilding mids in front of back four, should be easier to achieve.

The  position that we need cover at is of course centre half, which may be a target,  all other positions seem to be covered or have someone who can  do a job there. Now, having said that if the right player at whatever position is available then we may go for them, the plan is long term I believe and that will require patience, not kneejerk panic buys.

Difficult for some to stomach I know ,but the club will almost certainly stick to the plan , because it is the plan , simple as that. I agree with RTB ( on football matters) Herman and CD.

Things may change of course if we have serious injuries somewhere but centre half is really the position that needs cover. I have no idea who may be targeted,if anyone as my knowledge of players is minimal, my interest and knowledge is more in the positional  and tactical areas as youth development has been my passion for the last twelve years or so, now retired. The whole team development is what I find interesting, assembling an off the peg team, I'll leave to Jose Moaninho and other market experts.

PS, thought Sheffield United were fantastic yesterday, no I don't wish we were them, but by God they gave man u a rattle.

I stated in the OP what positions I'd sign for and why?

Apologies, I read on phone and missed the connection between you being OP and your reply.

Why risk Hanley when there are big doubts about his quality at this level?

There wasn't in August, nothings changed.

I don't think Buendia is the answer on that right side.

It's appeared clear it will be 3 from Buendia, Cantwell, Hernandez, Steipermann, bloody hell Farke even played Kenny further forward rather than playing Roberts, so not sure we'd spend any money on someone else to watch our games from the sideline.

Hanley almost left to join a Championship side in the summer, believed to be Blackburn.

Roberts is an odd one, I was pretty excited when we announced it as he looked like he would be world class a few years ago, yet has barely even been able to force a sub appearance and only seems to be on the bench to make up the numbers....

He was also excellent in preseason so really surprised about what has happened with him.

Source? It was repeated a lot on here, but mainly by those who wanted it to be true because they didn’t rate Hanley, as far as I could see.

No he didn't.

Also, so what if he did? The club still deemed him good enough to be 3rd/4th choice CB then, so why shouldn't they now?

PS. Deemed good enough to start at Anfield.

He was one of two fit central defenders for that game wasn't he? Hardly a ringing endorsement.

I would agree with the signing of a CB if the club didn't think Hanley was up to the job but there's been a lot of talk from Farke etc about his role as club captain even through injury; so I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon.

If I can't find a source I'll have to accept it came from here, a dodgy tabloid, or was Chinese whispers, although I will have a look because I'm sure it was mentioned in a Pink'un article at some stage?

We only had 2 fit centre backs though?

But anyway, all noise, my personal opinion is that we should look to bring in a 4th centre back (possibly loan) due to Klose's injury status.  I don't care whether Hanley is then 3rd or 4th choice. We are a centre back short.

The fact that he was still at the club, tells you all you need to know really.

Look, I'd replace Hanley with a traffic cone and buying a first choice CB would be top of my list, but I just cant see it happening.

Need to get Chase back on the board in an emergency loan deal. Otherwise, looking at the CVs of the other directors, relegation is a racing certainty.

Question for the boy Big Vince.

BV- how likely do you think it is that the Suffolk Socialists purchased the land behind the City stand in order to build a Chairman Mao-style re-education camp for fans who question their leadership, potentially with 20-foot statutes of Delia, Tom Smith and Michael Foot overlooking it? Also how far away are we from the Suffolk Socialists forcing their PC metropolitan views on us all by fielding a team of disabled, transgender lesbians who they didn't pay any money for?

You should unblock him - how else will you know when you're talking nonsense?

They are already forcing these kind of views on us as I spotted a gay pride flag flying from the mast of the City Stand when I was at Morrisons. There is another one outside the hotel. Delia employs people in her kitchens who have deviated a long way from heterosexuality and there once was a serving director of such ilk.

I can accept your normal level of trolling without comment, but there's no excuse for implied homophobia. Parody can only stretch so far and you have just overstepped it.

But why should these views be forced on the rest of us? Delia clearly has a party political bias which is bound to alienate most of the east of England. In her position she should remain neutral on all these issues.

Yes, employing homosexuals to cook food is clearly forcing the issue, quite literally, down your throat.

How does one even find out the sexuality of those cooking your food when at a restaurant?

Does BV just try it on with every chef and note down their reaction?

If we are going to have another Michael Foot as PM then this country will be asking the IMF for a bailout in a few years time.

I can only assume that BV is such a hunk of man that gay gentlemen in the hospitality profession are powerless to resist throwing themselves at him the second he enters the restaurant.

So how are they forcing views on the rest of us? Are people who drive around with an England flag on their car forcing their views on you? Or perhaps by having foreign players they're forcing remained views on you? I'm struggling to see how someone can actually take issue with displaying a rainbow flag or not discriminating against a vast swathe of the population has any actual bearing on anyone...

  1. A player for that right side if Roberts isn't considered good enough, because I really think Buendia is wasted having to play that deep (a liability in fact), I think Buendia should be challenging for that number 10 position. He created more chances for Pukki than any other player last season, he won't do that hanging around in his own half for most of the game. For me he needs to be competing with Cantwell for that number 10 spot.

Eh?? Cantwell doesn't play in the 10! He plays on the right hand side, like Emi does.

I get the point, but the reason Farke plays Stiepi or McLean in the 10 is for their height, to win headers when needed (see our first goal on Sat) and their ability to stop counter attacks from higher up the pitch etc.
