The whole money thing I find irksome

Recommended Posts

And there, right there, is the little window into why this club will never again succeed at the top level under them. Some might categorise it as selfishness, others as a sort of blinkered, utopian, naivity but the fact is that if all the others have money and we don't then we are destined to relegation every time we get up.

We are not some kind of social experiment for champagne socialists.

How does that work for the other two clubs that will also get relegated, if they have money shouldn't they be exempt from relegation?

Nobody is saying that money makes you "exempt" from relegation. But it certainly improves your chances and in our case I am far from convinced we would have needed to spend that much given the technically good and talented young players we have at our disposal. Unfortunately, defeats and loss of confidence is now getting to those players but it may not have been that way had we given ourselves that bit more of a chance to compete.

And this is the point people keep missing. Nobody is saying spending guarantees survival, but it gives you a chance. Spending nothing all but guarantees relegation. This is a money league. Delia doesn't like it. So why is she here. And why are the fans so accepting of an owner who has admitted she doesn't want to do what is necessary to compete at the highest level?

Did anyone see the Gary Neville interview before  the Watford  game?  He understands what we are trying to do.  He also has first hand knowledge of what can happen to a Club in the hands of     ' rich investors '. He gave an unbiased view of our rebuild, acknowledged that it may well take a few years to bear fruit and wished us well for trying something different as the standard ' throw money at it' approach is also very risky, maybe moreso .

Do not get me wrong, I would have liked us to been in a position to get two or three decent players in, but please can we just lay to rest this silly notion that would have guaranteed us Premiership safety. Fulham spent £140M and got relegated. If you accept we are one of the three clubs that will go down, two other clubs will be coming down with us and they will have spent at least ten times what Norwich spent, so it is clearly a more complex situation than just pounds shillings and pence......

I thought Gary Neville was very upfront and honest bearing in mind he works for Sky who upon promoting their brand are the cause of all the "money" floating about. Many of these investors are not as rich as they make out, but are good at juggling money and not repaying loans. Probably trained by Trump !!!

What exactly does 'spending nothing' mean? The accounts show that we've spent more than nothing, we've spent millions.

What money was spent on new signings that are in the current first XI?

You can lay the notion to rest because nobody has said it.

I bet she won’t find the £100 million coming our way this season plus 2 seasons of parachute payments “irksome”.this is also the same “irksome”  premier league money that saved their skins the last time they got the club into financial troubles. Still that “irksome” nasty premier league money stashed away in the clubs coffers makes her transition in ownership over to potless Tom much easier doesn’t it?

Repeating yourself doesn't make what you are saying  any more true you know.

What part of any of that post isn’t true?

the £100 million PL money and 2 years of parachute payments?

The PL money that the club got when Lambert got us promoted easing our finances?

The fact that it’s far easier to hand the club over to her Nephew with the club in a sound financial position rather than bankrupt and needing outside investment?

Well Delia used irksome money on a couple of occasions to hire coaches to ferry protesters to London, as she also finds Brexit.....'irksome'.....
