Samwam27 519 Posted October 5, 2019 So Amadou might be rated as a £12m player, but yhats mainly as a cdm. Is he anywhere near that as a defender? We seem to be getting sloppier each game in defence and its really worrying, especially in this manner at home against a team below us. Should we bring Hanley back n try Am in midfield? Aggy 752 Posted October 5, 2019 If he looked like a 12 million pound central midfielder and a 12 million pound centre back, he’d probably be worth a lot more than 12 million pounds. When we have another fit centre back I’d expect Amadou to go into midfield and the fit defender to go into the defence.

As I said earlier, Farke to his credit has always played specialist players in their positions and if needed stuck in youngsters believing in there strength. We’ve been unlucky with injury but Amadou is not a central defender and needs to play in his strength in that holding midfielder position, meaning we have a more solid foundation. Get the balls to go with Godfrey and Famewo, let them gain an understanding and give them time, we’re losing by shipping goals, tightening up midfield will take some pressure off the back four. I hope Farke goes back to playing each player in his strongest positions and giving youth that chance
Aggy 752 Posted October 5, 2019 Famewo is a young lad who has barely made double figure appearances and was most recently playing in league 2. Amadou at cb with two of our other holding midfielders is probably a better option. If Famewo is clearly nowhere near good enough (which I’m guessing is probably the case) then you can’t put him in. Capt. Pants 4,195 Posted October 5, 2019 Our central defence doesn't need Amadou but our midfield certainly does. Agree Farke has to be bold with the changes otherwise it is looking very bleak indeed.

That’s the same for Godfrey Aggy, Amadou at CB isn’t an option so all we have is to play a 20 year and give him his chance! It isn’t working at the moment it’s getting worse! Until our injuries are cleared we need to play players in their best position whatever the age.

Godfrey fair point, but he was playing a league lower last season. Even Godfrey is struggling this year and he is presumably miles ahead of Famewo (who is clearly fifth choice at best). The prem is a massive jump and I think if we thought he was good enough, he’d already have been in. I agree with playing players in their best positions, but if he isn’t good enough then it won’t help us or him. I’d expect Hanley back in there though with Amadou in midfield as soon as that’s possible.
Canary Wundaboy 1,358 Posted October 5, 2019 We have to strengthen midfield. Our defence is injury-stricken and makeshift but the midfield is leaving them woefully exposed. Time to tighten it up because we cannot keep shipping goals like this.
Otis62 6 Posted October 5, 2019 I think Famewo should have come on in the last 15/20 mins and Amadou moved into defensive mid. We’d nothing to lose and Famewo would probably slot into a back defensive four a lot easier as it’s his natural position.
Hucks6 169 Posted October 5, 2019 Farke has for the last2/3 games to put Hanley in defence and Amadou in defence midfield has he done it NO
Branston Pickle 3,633 Posted October 5, 2019 I don’t see why Byram (or Heise) isn’t given a go at cb so that we can move Amadou up - we missed any sort of midfield ‘shield’ today, it just melted away, and I get the feeling Amadou will go down well in that role. I think we could do with getting him in as cdm sooner rather than later as playing out of position can’t be going his confidence a lot of good

I’m not sure he is necessarily the answer but if fit would have surely started most of these games Edited October 5, 2019 by Branston Pickle
