Can we not get a loanee centre back?

Moving Amadou into midfield is then an option. It didn’t work with Leitner and McLean today not that either are bad players the issue is that we need more steel in there.

I was getting at the fact that you said 'most' Premier League teams have a 25-man squad when it's only three, but let's move on.

I see your point of view, but there are positives and negatives to it. If you name a 25-man squad then you're using your budget to bring in quantity over quality, and unless you get really unlucky with an injury crisis then you'll have several players earning money doing diddly squat and getting restless, which does squad harmony no favours.

Yeah, we could've had a fifth specialist centre back but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Had we signed another one and nobody got injured then we'd be moaning that Hanley and whoever the fifth centre back was were just hanging around talking up wages that could've been used elsewhere.

I just don't think that the fact that we didn't name 25 players in our squad is the biggest problem we're facing right now.

To be fair given that Klose and Zimmerman were injured throughout the pre-season and Hanley is not great going in with just 4 centre backs was always a risk.

In the summer we all knew the key player we needed was the upgrade in the defensive midfield position. We brought in players on the outside, right back, attacking players (who can play wide), goalkeeper and finally Amadou. That was the key signing, but probably another centre half or combative midfielder would be needed in an ideal world.

We have then found the core or spine of our team Decimated. It was the area we knew that was so important, why did we know? Well as NCFC fans we have seen over the years in the premiership our weakness in the centre half position and defensive midfield have cost us. We are needed bite, grit, strength etc. We know what you need as character and strength to compete in this league.

So with our squad decimated in the middle there is no surprise that we are struggling. I just feel for the guys as confidence is certainly being tested, it is not as if our first 11 are not showing themselves to be good enough, we haven't seen our first 11 this year.

We need to get through to when injured players come back in and potentially a slight change in system to accommodate our current group.

We are under dogs in every game but we are the walking wounded

LDC talking naive, utter dross as usual.  You would think that someone who know so little about football (and most likely any sport) would sit back and listen those who know a little rather than start thread when having nothing to offer.

LDC - listen to Greg Downs and pipe down you plank.

This result was always coming at some point. You cant play your third choice goalkeeper, have one half fit central defender playing, a left back on painkillers and not a single defensively minded midfielder and get away with it in the prem.

Obviously its disappointing but it's not surprising. Lets hope the international break allows us to get some players back!!

Our midfield were shocking today. Leitner supremely lightweight and wayward passing, accountable for at least 1 Villa goal. Pukki showed his frustration by chasing back and trying to do what the midfield weren't and got himself booked. Godfrey berating Cantwell for not covering back. 5-1 against Man City would have been accepted  but against a Championship team? Sorry but that was an unacceptable performance  regardless of injuries.

I wasn't there, but I can imagine there would be more tension at a game like this where people were thinking (incorrectly imo) that we should beat Villa than the Man City game where expectations were (again incorrectly imo) low.  The evidence in this league is that every team has the players to hurt any other team - if you are not on it 100% you will struggle.  We have too many players out injured, the bubble has burst - temporarily - and it will take a while to get back to where we were, but you don't lose the season in October and there is plenty of time to get back to our best.

If the fans were not up for it like the last home game, then they need to ask themselves why and try and be up for the next one.

You started those expectations and now you are completely ignoring what you said and trying to take the expectations you created back down again. Most of us this year had and still have the expectations of what will be will be this year. You told us we keep the ball better than Man City and we will be walking over the 4 teams since ManCity. You said if we didn’t get 8 points we should be disappointed. Now you are telling us we shouldn’t be disappointed.

Please can you tell us what you really think and then stick to it.

I think the question we all need the answer to is are we still capable of reaching the top 4!? 😂

No. Most of what you are reporting there is innaccurate. My expectations are always not to have any expectations.

I would have been very disappointed to have lost against Man City as much as I am disappointed today.  I didn't expect to win or lose against Man City, I didn't expect to win or lose today.

I didn't say we would keep the ball better than Man City, I said if we wanted to win the match we would have to do that. We didn't do that and we didn't need to, but that is history.

AND......I didn't say we would walk over the next few teams, merely that we could do well if we took the confidence and performance from the Man City game into them.  We didn't and hence the results.  Today was always going to be harder than people thought and I've been saying that off and on for the last week.

So if you are going to tell me what I wrote, at least be accurate with it. Thanks.

We can't sign a loanee until January.

And it will have to be a domestic player unless we drop a foreign player from the 25 (although that would be easy, as we'd drop Timm Klose as he's injured for the season).

Agree with you LDC.

In honesty, I was feeling pretty disappointed from the start today, I cannot believe that was the same stadium and crowd that we had for the Man City game. The atmosphere was terrible and I'm not too sure why.

I took the risk of listening to Butler on the way home and he kept saying how good the atmosphere was, was wondering if he was at the same game as me.

Very disappointing but not season defining, I don’t want this to be a Newcastle under AN day and see everything change, just keep on doing what we do best.

McGovern really didn’t get us going from the back, not his fault, but for me we really missed Tim.

Please look at your previous comments.

Decide which one you really beleive and stick to it. You told us we should not have the lower expectations that you are now encouraging.

I will go with what will be will be and as Webber said in his radio 5 interview today if we go down we will come back even stronger next season.

I'm not really sure what you mean.  I keep saying to you I have no expectations.  I think we could do well this season overall and yes, I still think we could end up quite high. I also think the opposite is true - we could also not do so well and be relegated.  But on balance, I will always push the positive because that is just me, but it doesn't mean I have outlandish expectations.

I did not talk up winning against Man City because I had huge expectations, but because people were saying we couldn't and I was trying to get across that we could....

I get that some people find it hard to understand, but it's about not expecting the worst and not expecting the best....just accepting what happens on the day.   Man City was a great day to enjoy and remember......today is the kind of day to put behind us and move on.

So as the title says

The title is very sexist language, so I'll ignore it thanks.

To tell people to "grow a pair of balls" implies a mental weakness tied to gender.

Delia has never wavered through 23 years of football club ownership, riding the bad times like a wave and succeeding where so often men fail. Its an incredible achievement for her to be at the helm of a professional club for so long, how many owners have a longer tenure?

She has managed that without needing to grow testicles, because mental toughness is not linked to gender or sexual organs.

Being two down after 30 mins probably didn’t help it. If we’d have got one back at 0-2 then maybe the atmosphere would have lifted and things turned out differently. But we didn’t.

I don’t go in for kneejerk reactions, things are rarely as bad as some make out, but people spend a lot of time and money going to games - I myself only got back in the last hour - so it is perfectly reasonable for them to have opinions and/or be a bit annoyed by a no-show, and being so outclassed by a not that great side.  For someone like LDC to preach at people on what to think is a bit much.

Something wasn't ‘right’ today, our game was well off, hopefully we can regroup over the international break and get it back....and hopefully no more (particularly training) injuries.

Had absolutely nothing to do with that at all.

The place was dead from kick off. Villa often sounded like the home team. Makes absolutely zero sense not to get behind the team in EVERY game.

Don't we all ultimately want the same thing? For OUR CLUB to do well? LDC mentioned the difference of fan mentality due to opponent. Likely could be the reason, but why? Should anything really affect getting behind your own team?

I have no idea why the atmosphere was awful today, makes no sense to me.

Villa have struggled on the road, but their fans just got behind them and put us to shame today, in our own back yard.

I’d argue it did have something to do with it; we’re a goal down after 15 minutes. And perhaps the last two away results and the pressing weight of all those injuries plays upon the crowd. I’m not defending it, nor attacking it either. I think we just have to write today off and hope for some relief on the injury front, and some tactical nouse from Farke to make us less predictable. Though he has his work cut out for him in that regard given our lack of personnel.

You could write an essay, maybe two, on what went wrong today.

The simple fact is that Norwich City today played the worst game they've played since probably that infamous Milwall (A) game 2 years ago. We looked like an amateur 5 a side team, and got picked off.

Yes, 8 first teamers injured, but honestly how many starters? 2 by my count. A lot of work needed at Colney over the next 2 weeks to stem the bleed, and it's fantastical to think anything otherwise.

Blah blah blah. We lost, we lost badly... we'll probably lose badly again this season  We'll probably win a couple or three games we shouldn't too. If you want to argue about it I'll race you to Yarmouth. BBL
