Is this for real? This rabbit hole again? Good Lord, give me strength. Moan and complain all you want. You’re free to do so. End of the day, it’s not your business.

Please explain what you actually believe gives you the right to tell someone else how to run THEIR business? Oh wait, you’re a FAN - supposedly - and you give your hard earned money to the club for tickets or subscription, or replica kits...whatever. Next.

You’re as stupid as someone who chooses to eat at a restaurant time and time again, where you don’t like the owners.

Why do you come back? Oh wait...bitchswitch fans are stupid like that.

The level of stupidity you have demonstrated shows you have no chance in seeing how arrogant you are.

if you don’t like it, go buy or build your own club.

It could be because they support the club and not Delia’s “self funded model”

As others pointed it out, more than 20 teams in England have "rich owners", some richer than others, so unless our sugardaddy is a faritale prince from the Arabian Nights, we still might end up worse. Examples are aplenty for that.  We have money to spend in January when we can bring in new players. If we stay up, further resources will  be available, if not, we still can rely on the parachute moneys plus a strong Champs squad, with the possibility of adding players, so I'd rather be patient.

Whilst I don’t agree with the OP necessarily, I think had we spent more a little more in the summer, we probably would be sitting comfortably in mid table. It was a bit naive to hope we wouldn’t get injuries and that all the players would step up.

I am really happy that we have Delia plus the other board members. I’m happy that we have our strategy as it is.

If we’d spent 150m and had 10 players out it would have more or less been the same result. Despite decent possession and a reasonable number of shots not much came off for us.

Thats football.

What I find interesting about this thread is the inability of the critics to debate and discuss the issue, so I say again, three teams will be relegated at the end of the season, there is a high probability that at least one of those will have spent a lot of money on their squad so  spending lots of cash is not necessarily the answer. I accept that maybe we were a bit too frugal, however each season clubs that spend big get relegated from the Prem, you also need to consider the danger of chasing the Premiership dream (Bolton and Portsmouth spring immediately to mind), so getting the balance right is difficult.

The same people saying our model can't compete in the Premier League are the same people who were saying we'd never have a prayer of getting promoted from the Championship with our model, and that we were likely to be relegated to League One due to our lack of investment.

Three weeks ago we beat the champions of England with ten players out injured. We've got four super-talented young British players in our squad who cost us £250k in total (Godfrey's fee to York). We're one point from safety with 30 matches to go, and a bunch of players to come back from injury.

I only hope that Farke sticks to the principles that have got us to where we are, rather than having a crisis of confidence like Alex Neil did after we shipped six at Newcastle. As the song goes, "what a great team to support". And support them we must.

OTBC.

You are only allowed to have a squad of 25 players. You expect injuries but don't know where they will come. We have 3 central defenders with medium to long term injuries - are you suggesting that we should have gone into the season with six? We spent heavily on a reserve keeper are you suggesting that we should also have spent big on a 3rd choice keeper as well? It is not just that we have injuries, but the concentration of where we have them. If instead of 3 centre backs, we had 3 strikers injured would you have argued that we should have started the season with 4 or 5 strikers?

Apart from the waste of money, packing a squad full of players that you do not expect to play damages the morale and dynamic of the squad.

e.g. Having 5 premiership quality centre backs means that in  normal circumstances, three are not getting a game and can become frustrated. It also means that you have less choice in other places as well.

I said on another thread at the start of the season that I was worried about the lack of investment.  We've had a spell where the stars have aligned - the emergence of 4 absolute quality youth players from the academy, and a couple of inspired free transfer signings gave us half of a championship winning team for free. Our best hope to develop as a club is to build our team around Godfrey, Aarons, Lewis and Cantwell.  We want these guys to stay with is for as long as possible and the best way of doing that is to remain in the premier league. You give yourself the best chance of doing that by putting a bit of money in, otherwise if we go down, chances are we'll lose the academy players at the end of the year. We might have £100m or so in the bank for them but theres no guarantee that money will be re-invested, more players come through the academy or new signings will work out.

I'm not by any means suggesting we go back to signing the Naismiths of this world but surely a couple of decent £5 - 8m players wouldnt have broken the bank?  Another promotion where our impoverished owners think we can survive on the cheap, their model that most of us seem to have swallowed hook, line and sinker exists solely so they can retain control of the club. It worked last season, it's looking increasingly like it won't this year.

But would it have made us any better...?

... and how do you know in advance that they won't be "a Naismith?"

FWIW, I suspect that we do have the money to spend 10 to 15 million if the right player becomes available - just buying bodies for the sake of it is pointless.

We did get 'a couple of decent £5 - 8m players wouldnt have broken the bank' but we got them on loan so the loan fees and the wages for those players along with the £5M ish promotion clause we had to pay for Buendia are not taken into account when people quote what we paid out in the summer.

So what.... we never buy any players again in case they dont make us better or become a Naismith?  For what its worth, given his track record I dont think Webber would ever be held to ransom like Naismith did with us and unlike the period in which we bought RVW and Naismith, we're now buying players to fit into an overall plan.

What's clear is that we went into the season short of a few players defensively (esp defensive midfield) and it's ridiculous if the excuse for not buying them is frugality.

Trybull,  Amadou  and Tettey. How many more did we need?

Those "decent 5-8m" players are in short supply. This window we saw Adam Webster, Maupay and McBurnie all go for around £20m. None of them had played above the Championship before and were they any better than some of our squad?

1. No, but you don't just buy "decent 5-8 million" players just because you've got the money.

2. Frugality was not the reason - we thought we had enough because we didn't anticipate the spate of injuries that we had. We have 3 specialist central defensive midfield players - how many do you want in a 25 man squad?

I doubt that we would have got any of our loanees for £5 to 8 million.

I know that this doesn't apply to you but if the OP believes that money spent equates to player value, it is reasonable to assume that our £5 to 8 million purchases wouldn't be as good as our loanees, which makes their purchase even more pointless.

Most observers, myself included, thought we should've brought in cover at RB, a new DM, a CF to compete with Pukki, a new GK, and a pacey AM.

And what did we get? Cover at RB, a new DM, a CF to compete with Pukki, a new GK, and a pacey AM.

As an aside, anyone else noticed that Man City, the most expensively assembled squad in history (over €1bn), also have a DM playing at CB due to a significantly less severe injury list than ours?

You mean to say that there are people out there who believe that businesses should be operating beyond their means of operational revenue?

And how long before that collapses in on itself?

Excellent reply. We won the Championship but no one was calling for new ownership then. Who bought in SW who we all thank for our recent fortunes?

Yes, it is a business and we almost lost the club due to huge debts, but the owners have been shewd and we are still here. Do moaning fans want us to spend millions and become financially unstable again? Get real.

All our problems are on the pitch or should i say off the pitch in a recovery room!!! For gods sake give the team time to get back to full strength before attacking DF and the Board.

I am sure we will spend money if, after we are at full strength, and find we are not good enough to survive.

I am only in my 3rd season as a ncfc fan and i am shocked by established fans attitude

1. We have never "almost lost the club" due to huge debts and to the extent we may have had difficulties then it was on the watch of these same owners.

2. Where has anyone called for spending that would make us financially unstable? Spending £10m on another CB or a winger would not have made us financially unstable. We have players worth millions and millions in our squad who can be sold on relegation if the worst happens.

3. "only in my third season" perhaps explains a lot. We are of course all conditioned by our own experiences as fans. Many more recent fans are obviously happy with their lot because this is all they have ever known or indeed this is better. Many of the really older generation remember us and in a way still think of us as traditionally a lower league club, have seen ups and downs and are just happy to see the club yo yo between divisions. Others of us who grew up watching Norwich genuinely compete in the top division at times are probably the more demanding group amongst our fanbase and don't regard being a yo yo club as success and are probably less happy at seeing our owners limit the clubs potential (to less for example than Bournemouth, Watford, Wolves, Leicester, Burnley or Palace) essentially just so they can maintain control of it and hand it to their nephew.

Nobody is claiming spending money guarantess success and as far as I can see nobody is saying we should spend vastly beyond our means. The debate is whether we should have looked (or should be looking) to increase those means by finding owners/investors with bigger resources or whether we should just settle for and accept that we will never be an established top division club again.

Why is it laughable?

If you don’t like a TV channel, change it.

If you don’t like a particular type of food, don’t eat it.

If you don’t like the club, leave.

Your psychology reflects the signs of someone who has suffered abuse for so long, that you’ve forgotten you have a choice to get out of you don’t like it.

It makes me laugh when people get so wrapped around the axle that they forgot their place.  Football is a business of ENTERTAINMENT. If you don’t like the show...........
