McLean and Hanley

Recommended Posts

According to loads of people on here in the past few weeks they should never be anywhere near the starting XI, ever, and we'd be the best team in the world with the German Pirlo Moritz Leitner sitting alongside Trybull.

Well I hope Hanley is fit asap because he's better than a 60 percent fit Zimmermann and Ampadou kept forgetting he wasn't playing defensive midfield.

McLean showed more intent on the ball in 15 minutes than Buendia did in 90. Let's put him back in.

The sooner Hanley can allow Ampadou to sit in midfield the better, Tettey would have done a job to day.

The way we were set up today was far too lightweight and Buendia needs to step up pronto!

Who is Ampadou?

Haha, we were actually linked to Chelsea centre back Ampadu, it seems my brain has created a hybrid of their two names.

I'm looking forward to seeing Amadou in centre mid.

Hanley played it would have been 4-0, a half fit Zimbo still made more blocks than Hanley has all season.

Amadou doesn’t look like a CB does he! Should have maybe strengthened where needed?

Still two weeks for Zimbo to get fit or Hanley will start against Man City, that’ll be fun!

How about supporting players instead of knocking them? 60% fit Zimbo deserves full support. 😉🤔😂

I think Amadou was quite decent today. Of course played higher in end because we were trying to get back. However, can only remember one mis-pass for him and otherwise was solid on his own position. Today he was a lot better than Godfrey as CB (but of course Godfrey had worst performance Ive seen from him)

What was noticeable was we needed Tettey or Amadou in that line up to strengthen that midfield, West Spam took control of that after 15 minutes and never really looked uncomfortable after that.

Agreed on that but before that ****e late tackle on Zimbo we looked pretty good, just feel he should of started ahead of Steipermann in a game of this sort, we need to be solid, we still have Leitner, Cantwell and Buendia to creat things.

West Ham could quite clearly see that Zimmermann was carrying an injury and knew that he struggled against Crawley, and that we had no centre half on the bench.

So if course they are going to take him out of the game in the first half, it was niave of us to think they would do anything but.

He wasn't fit to start so shouldn't have been started.

Zimmerman looked very good until Hallers challenge. The sliding block stopping an almost certain goal was superb.

We needed Amadou just in front of the CB to strengthen that area, it was crying out for a solid midfield. Still two weeks now to get everyone fit.

Yes the midfield it a bit too lightweight at the moment, Hopefully Zimmerman’s injury isn’t too serious but it doesn’t sound great

You keep saying that but it was very obvious the club tried to bring in a centre back, just like Spurs tried to bring in a striker but failed.

It's not like buying a car, it's more like buying a house.

It's pretty obvious for a few reasons including:

1). We were linked with two Seville players on loan by the same media outlet, and one of them actually turned up. This gives credence to the suggestion that we also wanted the other player, who was a centre back.

2). Hanley was given the green light to move to a Championship side but the move fell through.

Clubs get strung along by other clubs, players and agents and sometimes transfers are like a house chain... one falls through and that brings down the chain. The medical is like the house survey, you may pull out when you find out about the structural damage.

Yes we could have done with one more centre back, but that's not a particular enlightening suggestion, the club knew that, unfortunately it didn't work out so we've got what we've got.

It's a bit annoying that Ryan Bennett is going so well elsewhere in this league after being released on a free transfer, but the Pinkun experts had decided that he was a **** lower league player too... So I reckon they've definitely got it spot on about Hanley after 3 games at this level.

Some of us with memories longer than a month can remember Michael Turner's terrible first 5 weeks of the season under Hughton where he looked like a complete liability. Went on to become a rock for 18 months once developing an understanding with Bassong and Ruddy.

"He used to be ****e but now he's alright, Michael Turner"
