Rays Funds for the CSF with the Pink un Pickers Season 13 Week 4

Recommended Posts

Another tough week. A fantastic 41 PUPs picked this week with 24 winning picks (59%). Of the 29 different suggestions 16 won (55%). It's hard to get a winning six from there.

Most profitable pick was Woosters Newcastle to draw at 2.21. Fenway Frank's was too close not to mention, Carlisle at 2.2.

The top four in the PUPs league are unchanged. I will post a separate profitability league from this week because they have become different now.

Clearly playing it too cautiously so far based on that profitability.

But I'm 6th in the profitability table, thought that was pretty good??? Am I reading it rightly that my hypothetical £1 i would have started with is now £3.02? Isn't that good for 2 bets?

Sorry i'm not really a gambler so this is all pretty new to me.

I make some decent money on Football Index, but that isn't traditional gambling per se...

I'm liking the look of 100% next to my name. Maybe I should take up this betting malarky 😋

Remember the house always win's. Think of it this way. Betting is something you can afford to lose. Gambling is something you cannot afford to lose.

The profitability is just a bit of fun really. Well the whole thing is for fun really. The competition between us is the structure of this community. But it does sharpen the minds of those with a competitive nature. So the tables are a useful tool to use by the PUPs in the hotseat. As the season goes on it's quite likely that the PUPs in contention will take longer over making their picks.

Rays Funds actually raises more money from pledges, donations, sponsorship etc. than it does through the two weekly bets. That comes only because we are here doing what we do. So each PUP is really important whatever their stats are.

I'm definitely enjoying finally getting involved, should've done it years ago! To ensure I keep competitve throughout the season, I'll pledge £1 for every place away from the top I am on the profitability by the end of the season. I'd love to make it more but i'm not that confident in my ability, or my bank balance 😂

@nutty nigel - Do you have somewhere you log the pledges or do I need to make a note somewhere to remind myself at the end of the season?

PUPS Profitability Guide

After much confusion and endless messages to Nutty. I've worked out how the profitability is calculated. Its a bit of fun for Charity so don't get to worked up you don't feel its correct.

So each week a hyperthetical £1 bet is placed on your PUP pick and you make a profit if you win. All the profits are added together to make a total with an extra £1 added on to represent your inital £1 stake. Finally you substract £1 for each bet you have have lost. This is your profitability.

    For example
        Week 1 - £1 winning bet at 1.25 odds = 0.25 profit. Total Profitibility =        0.25 +1                      = 1.25
        Week 2 - £1 losing bet                            = -1 lost.        Total Profitibility =        0.25 -1 + 1                = 0.25
        Week 3 - £1 winning bet at 2.21 odds = 1.21 profit. Total Profitibility =        0.25 -1 + 1.21 +1     = 1.46

Basically your inital pound stake is always with you even if you lose in any given week, as you get given a new one. Which explains why at say a profitability of 0.2(currently mine) and having lost twice I can place a £1 bet the next week. That really confused me for a while, but like I said at the beginning this is some fun for charity.

Lastly the odds that are used which are taken from either

       https://www.oddsportal.com/results/#soccer
        Or
If the pick is chosen for the Top 6 then the odds are from Bet365/WillHill at the time Nutty puts the bet on.

And that is it.
