I Told You So

I told you all well before the season started Norwich City were going to come a cropper because of the lack of defensive preparedness for this season at this level.

So now we have had 4-1 against Atalanta, 4-1 against Liverpool and 3-2 against Chelsea. The Suffolk Socialists decided to prepare the club for The Championship next season instead of the EPL this season so now the chickens are coming home to roost. Already the most goals conceded in the EPL. The SS are just not committed to football at this level because they will not go to the next step financially. They are haunted by Naismith and so spending no money at all is now their mantra.

It is not just me highlighting the shortcomings. The boy Downs on Canary Call virtually said all the same things word for word.

We are well on course to be the highest scoring team ever to be relegated from the EPL. Just as I predicted. Delia and Wynnie must go. No one else is responsible as we have seen these shortcomings year after year, coach after coach.

I tell you who I wouldn't like to see go, Bolton and Bury. If I could trade their safety for your lot down the A140 I'd do it without a second thought, and I follow Rochdale as one of my "other" teams.

You lot just don't get it, do you?

Norwich City have been conceding goals for donkeys years now. I can't think of a single season under the Suffolk Socialists where Norwich have been tight at the back (except maybe when they had Malky in 03-04). Delia has banned all her coaches from investing in quality central defenders, but has absolutely encouraged them to bring a lot of dross to those positions (Jackson, Doherty, Helveg, Simon Charlton, and, best of the lot, who can forget, Russell Martin) The latter was so bad, Delia rewarded him with a new contract just as Farke took over. Now we have Hanley as the joker in the pack.

Do any of you seriously believe that Greg Downs doesn't have a clue what he is talking about? The boy played as a defender himself and at the top level with Norwich and Coventry. He said they let in too many goals last season and it was a no-brainer that they would have to strengthen central defence going into an EPL season. He is right. I am right. But sadly we are in a sea of numpties on here.

You can't mean to tell me the SS have no input on football matters. When the boy Farke came here he had a reputation for keeping things tight at the back. I think he was going at about 0.5 goals per game in the BL4. As soon as he comes here, he gets captured by the SS and the floodgates open at the back.

It is Delia who won't defend. Whoever is the coach won't make a scrap of difference.

"Norwich City have been conceding goals for donkeys years now."
 - Don't let facts get in the way of anything, will you ?

2018/19 Overall - 1st. Defensive* - 8th. [ Worse -7 ]
2017/18 Overall - 14th. Defensive - 12th. [ Better +2 ]
2016/17 Overall - 8th. Defensive - 3rd. [ Better +5 ]
2015/16 Overall - 19th. Defensive - 17th. [ Better +2 ]
2014/15 Overall - 3rd. Defensive - 3rd. [ Matched ]
2013/14 Overall - 18th. Defensive - 18th. [ Matched ]

Last 6 seasons, defence position worse than league position just once.
[* Goals conceded. Least -> Most ]

Interesting that by using your metric, in recent years, our best season was when Norwich finished 8th in the Championship and our worst season was when we won the Championship, having scored 93 goals.

So funny seeing you get your knickers in a twist about this. Keep crying.

"He is right. I am right."

If we continue to score 2 goals each game, we'll have 76 goals at the end of the season.

No team scoring that many goals has ever failed to at least qualify for the UEFA Cup/Europa League since the Premiership was reduced to 20 teams in 1995/96.

Clearly the Suffolk socialists have colluded with the boy Farke to get our two first choice centre backs injured, thereby ensuring a swift return to the EFL so they can keep their pet project to themselves and Nephew Tom.

Who is this idiot? Has he even noticed that Sunday TV football is now shown in colour? Has he clocked that the oligarchs are moving on, leaving carcasses of football clubs behind them? Does he respect the Bolton debacle? Read Jordan's account of his devastating experience with Crystal Palace and then look rationally at the future for clubs like ours. Fact is "Big Vince" if the Delia plan is to recover from near administration and finance a secure place in the Championship what is so absurd about that?

Got any cash Big Vince? If so, put it where your........

What has all this got to do with failing to fetch in a couple of EPL quality central defenders? If the SS reckon that getting in quality players for nothing is the way forward then why haven't they brought in some Pukkis for the defence?

Nothing will ever please you. If we bought in two CB's you would change your focus on to something else to run down the club with and then blame the owners for that.  So you as always, will find something to complain about whatever happens.

Most of us, I think, will be enjoying the challenge the team has - looking to see if Hanley can improve and keep his place in the team and keep Zimmermann out....but many also hoping to see Zimbo and Godfrey grow into the division as the CB pair as season moves on, with Hanley and Amadou as replacements when needed.

Unlucky that Klose got injured, but we still have four people who can do the business. We overan Newcastle.....who then went and beat Spurs.......so I think our team/squad is more than good enough to do well this year, whoever is called on to play CB.

I told you so! I told you so! I told you so!

Even without the injuries the two centre-half slots needed a step up in quality for the EPL.

Now we have the two injuries for those positions it makes it even more of a folly that the SS chose The Championship next season instead of rowing the boat out a little bit to get that quality required to back up the weapons we have further up the pitch. Poor old Pukki! Every goal he scores is now going to be in a losing cause. What a poisoned chalice the SS have now served up to him! City are currently scheduled to let in a whopping 101.3 goals this season.

Another season in the EPL would be worth say £95m just in broadcasting revenue. Are the SS saying that buying 2 central defenders at say £10m apiece is going to liquidate the club? If NCFC declare a healthy profit at the end of this season, which they surely will, people are going to ask why they didn't spend the profit to try and stay in the EPL. If the recruitment is supposed to be so good these days, surely it is a no-brainer?

But no, the SS are hell-bent on getting back to The Championship just as they are hell-bent on not expanding the stadium. Of course the two are connected. They need to be in The Championship in order to justify not expanding the stadium.

Talk about jumping the gun. Poor Vince, he just can't see beyond the end of his nose. How about we wait and see? The four that were there most of last season are fantastic - and it looks as if they will be the ones to take it on again this season because of injuries - plus we have Amadou as a back up.

I know Vince won't wait, but most of us will be prepared to see how we get on - those of us who don't have a giant chip on their shoulder, that is......

I don’t suppose he can, the complete and utter bullsheite that he comes out with suggests he’s a tractor driving t w a t version of Pinocchio.

Correct Pink’un spelling of ‘t w a t’
