Onel out for 3 months

Not what we wanted to hear but we go with what we have. Obviously, most everyone had question marks about Hanley but there is nothing we can do and it will probably have to be Tettey instead of MacLean.

And we have Idah fit so we have three strikers.

Idah is doubtful too apparently.

Onel relies in his pace. That might be gone for ever. But what the hell was he doing?

Fell off a step ladder while trying to beat his record for the number of Argos catalogues he could stack. I reckon.

Bad news for Onel but as ever I'm confident that it leaves a space for others to claim. Cantwell on the wing ? Roberts ?

Tettey in for McLean might allow Leitner and Vracic options for Trybull !

I'm confident !

Huge loss. Hernandez on his day is a one of a very few match winners we have. His pace and directness will be missed, hopefully Roberts can step up. Cantwell on the wing isn't the answer for me.

With regard to Tettey, I really hope we don't have to resort to starting him in the PL. Quite frankly he just isn't good enough at this level. If Amadou has settled in and fit then he needs to play. We also need to find a way to accommodate Leitner and Vrancic together. We need our best players on the pitch asap.

Drimic and Klose are concerning. With a recent history of injuries, general fitness and injury resilience will be questioned.

we find out tonight whether it's his ACL don't we after a scan? Sounds like 4 or 5 weeks will be him back training if it's just meniscus but actually playing and fully fit at the elite level we are at will sadly be a fair bit longer. Hopefully back for the busy Christmas games

he did but said he will have a scan later to see if he needs surgery which would then basically be season over for him. If it will heal without surgery he will maybe be running in a month and a half and full training a month later with a view to returning after 3 months total.

I think Farke said he’s booked in for Monday with the specialists, so I would imagine we won’t find out what’s what until after then. Fingers crossed for our Onel, because he’s definitely a really special player for us - there’s no one like him in our squad I feel. His directness and fearlessness regardless of the opposition, he has proved to be a real goal threat at crucial times too. Fingers crossed for a swifter than expected return!

Roberts looks a very similar player to be fair. Have to hope he can come in and produce as Cantwell is a completely different style of player.

There's a few decent players on that list and certainly a few surprises too, even further down the list.  For example I'm surprised to see Lewis Holtby is without a club

Sorry for being a pessimist...but that is a massive blow to our chances

Have to agree. The way Onel opens up defences with his pace and skill will be heavily missed. We don't have another wide player like him atm. Maybe DF will deploy Jamal more down the flank, whenever possible, or use Roberts wide?

I really feel for Onel. Such a big season for him in the offering, and something like this happens.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

Definitely want to see Mario play more games this season. For me, he breaks up play and wins many tackles in midfield. Of course his vision and delivery is second to none

I'm gutted for him and the worst injuries often come from the slightest incidents but this one is ridiculously bizarre.

Bakary Sako would be a decent acquisition on a short-term contract.

EDIT: Despite what Transfermarkt says, he signed for Denizlispor in Turkey a couple of weeks ago. Lazar Markovic probably the best out there on a free.

Probably trying to walk and use his phone at the same time. Farke oftered a few choice words I suspect.

Gary Hooper... get him in 😉

Really? I’m surprised at that, unless he’s older than I think.

Edit: I’m NOT suggesting we sign him, just you’d think he’d find a newly promoted Championship/League 1 team who he could do job for.

Will be a big miss that's for sure, can't really see us moving for an unattached player though.

Byram was always pretty decent going forward, an option? Wonder if we've got anything in the under 23s ready to break through.

Gutted. Onel was probably the player I was most looking forward to watching this season, and the player I thought would catch the eye the most, if not Buendia.

Would expect Roberts to be the closest thing to a replacement. Cantwell is a completely different type of player

Wow, there are some superb players on that list, a few ex-Bilbao players. Surprised at many. Martin Olsson for one. McCormack is also an interesting one

Looking at how Markovic's career has gone it actually would look like a fairly standard webber signing. Not sure about his attitude or what money he'd be wanting though.

Suppose we'll get news on Onel after today's game.
