So it looks like Tetty may need an operation on his knee. Surely this means we are going to have to push for a CDM before the window closes. Farke seems to talk about having 2 specialists per role, we now only have 1 in Trybull...

I know, another thread about a CDM, but thought someone may have missed that we need one 😚

I thought it was his calf? He had similar trouble last season - blood vessel burst I believe. No comparison of course, but I did something to my calf last year which took ages to clear up; ankle swelled up & had a big dark patch on it which was likely blood draining down from the torn calf.

He's a lot younger & fitter than me though (& didn't carry on chasing his 6 year old grandson!) so fingers crossed he's not out for long. Still a good option to have in the squad.

I see Bournemouth are about to sign Philip Billing from Huddersfield - probably would've been at the very top end of our budget, but he's a player I've greatly admired and will know Webber from his time at Huddersfield. Guessing we wouldn't be able to match Bournemouth for wages, but if we fancy pushing the boat out I think he'd be an excellent acquisition.

I honestly thought that the useful little spell that Alex Tettey had last season was his swansong and was surprised (not critical) when his contract was extended. His age and recent injury record would have indicated that the end to his City career was looming, but he was a good character to have around, experienced and useful at times. "A good option in the squad."

The failure to sign a.n. other to back up Trybull suggested that perhaps a little more involvement was planned for him by Farke and, although this forum has been crying out for that extra classy CDM, nothing was happening on the transfer front to refute this.

Surely this latest set back means the virtual end of AT now and that the need for a fresh replacement has become critical.

Don't write him off yet Broady, I think he's still got plenty to offer and will be making a valuable contribution to our season, culminating in a final farewell sometime around May.

Danny Drinkwater, anyone!!!   Surplus at Chelsea.

Great shout on a loan basis, suspect his wages will be huge though after they took him from Leicester.

Suspect he might prefer to play than sit on money and seemed to have the right attitude at Leicester.  Haven't heard him complain at Chelsea dispite not given much chance.      Worth an enquiry....if you don't shoot, you can't score!!!!

He cost Chelsea £35m and they won't want to lose much on him I suspect... age, England/English, length of contract.

He might even consider coming to City as 'slumming it a bit.'

I note that he had a high profile drink and drive conviction fairly recently. Doesn't live up to the family name then. More like a Danny Drinkbeer it would seem.

I thought that he looked pretty useful when he played for England but his presence at Carrow Road might upset the apple cart slightly?

DF: "Alex had a little setback in the past week. A small calf injury," said Farke. "We had just planned he would be out for seven to 10 days but there is still some blood in the calf. We have to get that out and we either use some traditional methods or maybe a small surgery. That is a decision to make in the next day or two. It is very rare with this injury you have to do that. It is a shame for Alex. He was looking sharp and unbelievably fit at this level. Let's see how it develops."

It sounds like he is benefiting from the sports scientists and the coaches at Colney in terms of his fitness.  Pre-Farke, it was generally thought that he couldn't play twice a week due to dodgy knees, but the 'looking sharp and unbelievably fit at this level' quote suggests he was/is very much part of our plans this season.

They'll have no choice, will anyone offer £10m???   Its his value now, not then!   If he's got no future there, they will want him out..... am sure we would have liked £8m for Naismith and £5m for Oliviera, never going to happen.

I still think the 'dream' marquee signing would be Erick Pulgar from Bologna, who has a well-documented €12m release clause. He wants to leave Bologna, but whether he'd see Norwich as a step up is another matter, especially considering there are a few mid-upper Serie A teams looking at him.

The only chance we'd have would be if he specifically wants to play in the Premier League and if he wants to join a team where he'll definitely play. I think he's probably out of our reach realistically but there'd be no harm in Webber asking his agent on the off chance.
