The Palace / Andy Johnson situation is also slightly different to ours in that their Chairman is an absolute prick, and would rather see him rot in the reserves than leave the club.

When Ashton signed an extension to his contract in the summer, it wasn''t because he wanted to stay at Norwich for the rest of his career. The deal was good for all parties. Ashton got a wage hike, and the club would get a better fee when they do sell him.

Yes, A contract is legally binding. But it will never be enforced in football, as in real life. I have a contract at work, but if i signed it for 5 years, and wanted to leave after 2, would they make me stay?! would they hell as like.

ronbol - i dont no if you are naive or

just plain stupid: yes a contract is legally binding. we understand

that but if ashton does not want to stay and requests a transfer, if we

dont sell him he will be half the player that he was, his performances

will suffer badly. In reality in work an unhappy unmotivated

peeved off employee is not as useful to a company as a happy one.

In the following summer we will then get far less money

for dean ashton as clubs no we have to sell our unhappy player..

If dean ashton wants to leave january he will go. thats the be all

and end all of the situation. hopefully worthy and the board can

convince him to stay till the summer.

look at francis - he wanted to leave and was rubbish pre season not

even wanting to be involved before being sold at a cut price 1.5

million.  can you imagine how crap he would have been if we forced

him to stay.

why not try it, force ashton to stay. See how long he likes sitting on

the bench or in the reserves, he will soon get the message. To many

week people at this club including some of the fans!

So Ronbol, if we forced Ashton to stay at the club, who else in their right mind would want to join our club!?!

"There you go son, 10k a week, top facilities, top set-up, fab ground, super fans, oh, and by the way, we''re not letting you leave until your contract is finished!!"
