a1canary 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Just clutching at straws really, but you remember at the back end of2003, we all thought Leon and Sven were being brought in for Huckerbyonce he had gone back to Man City. In the end Worthy showed that heknew we would need all the above, eventhough some of us might havethought we didn''t and had paid too much.He tried to bring in Morrison earlier in the season and with Leonpotentially out for the season, it could just be that he intends Jerometo complement rather than replace Ashton. We can but dream! Huddy 0 Posted January 4, 2006 The no money available could be a big bluff, to make teams think we havent got any cash and so when we bid for players they wont ask for more.
no1canary 0 Posted January 4, 2006 its very well covered up. you cant blame the club for not saying, ''we''ve got millions to spend'' if they have. all we can do is wait for these things to take their course.i should think, they could well be thinking, we can spend, because we know we will get big bucks for ashton when we eventually sell him. Northern Canary 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Apparantly we have no money now. Why would be then go and inquire about Jerome who costs above 2 million. imo we always have money but act poor. I like it too because we dont get ripped off
Mouse 0 Posted January 4, 2006 If we haven''t got any money, then where has the money gone that we were going to spend on Morrison?

lucky green trainers 0 Posted January 4, 2006 the edp reported the playing budget has all be spent this season after signing dicko. the evening news say city has inquired about jerome.i''m assuming jerome could be a replacement for deano, but to get both would be good. whoareyou? 0 Posted January 4, 2006 remember this time last year when the board said the same things about not having the money for Deano.....then whoops he was pulled out of the hat before the other clubs could open their wallets....maybe its just a smokescreen for something similar....let''s all hope
We need a Manager 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Would hardly be a good career move for Jerome , moving from the 10th placed team in the Championship to the 11th .
The Fish Seller 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Hi all. Long time reader first time poster....... Maybe it''s a bluff?Think about it. We''re likely to be doing more turnover selling than buying this window.By enquiring about players in the £2m bracket the club give the impression that we''re not particulary short of cash and therefore unlikely to accept a low bid for one of our premium players. What''s is the better alternative? Tell everyone we''ve no money whatsoever in order to knock forty quid of the cost of a 1st div defender or tell everyone we''re minted? Okay we''d pay full price on that 1st div defender but hey we could afford to because by pretending we''re affluent, other clubs had to revise their bids for.......... Just a thought, we all put on a suit if we need to talk to the Bank Manager for a loan don''t we, doesn''t matter what we''re really like or what we''ve really got. Impressions count.Oh and Jerome? We could get him on a free. "Needing" money we''d probably get offered £6m for Ashton, not "needing" the money I reckon it''d go up a couple of mill if anyone did seriously want him. Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Huckerby, Ashton, don''t underestimate the ability of our Delia led Board to make the sort of emotional decisions most fans would make only tempered by a little more responsibility.
Darlo dumplin’ 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Its just one of those smoke screens - it''s Chris Sutton that''s coming (reportedly talking to prem clubs in the same way that Hucks talked to WBA).
a1canary 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Welcome Monty. It''s an interesting one and just goes to show what a smoke and mirrors operation it has become signing players with this transfer window rubbish. It forces the hands of the clubs, and as a result, they start to bluff. I think a lot of credit has to go to someone in the club, probably Doncaster, (although NW plays along admirably!) for realising this very quickly and immediately playing the game to great effect in some important recent signings - namely that of crouch and hux on loan, hux permanently and ashton (both in signing him and keeping him in the summer). This is sure to be going on again, but how much longer it can stave off the inevitable is the question!
breaker 0 Posted January 4, 2006 I also mused in a similar fashion to the rest of you and then wondered.........IF (and it''s a big ''if'') City did get Jerome, who has just burst onto the England U21 scene, would this not be a very good reason for Ashton to stay? Quality & potential & pace & confidence alongside? Maybe that''s who this carrot is for?

StevenageFan 0 Posted January 5, 2006 Why are some of you getting excited about another striker? We need midfielders badly yet Worthy is still looking at strikers. We could Henry and Rooney upfront at the moment and still have the same goals for stats because they wouldn''t get the service. We need to sort out the midfield. shyster 0 Posted January 5, 2006 If Delia quickly releases another book on how to boil an egg, Jerome''s transfer could be paid for this time next week.
