Back to the matter in hand, good to see the ‘blip’ that was England’s second game put behind them, we stand in a pretty good position as no one was ever likely to win all the group games. Sunday's game (Ind v Pak) ought to be good, so long as the rain holds off.... Pakistan have just been the weirdest team this world cup.
Branston Pickle 3,635 Posted June 14, 2019 As ever - Pakistan are the ultimate enigma, awful one day, world-beaters the next.
Icecream Snow 761 Posted June 14, 2019 Looks like the top four of India, Australia, England and New Zealand are breaking away from the rest, even at this early stage. India or Australia would be my favourites to win outright.

Looking forward to this game BP, some exciting batting on both sides and if Pakistan bring their A-game, could be a humdinger! Whilst I'm in the mood to speak about the cricket, the AUS v IND match had a deal of excitement to it, I was convinced Australia would come nowhere near the Indian total before they batted, but if Smith or Carey had batted a bit longer, that would have ben very tight. SwindonCanary 455 Posted June 15, 2019 With Australia I always want Warner and Smith to do badly, I wonder why ? 😉

Feedthewolf 4,844 Posted June 15, 2019 As ever, the Aussies have got to be favourites. Can't see SL getting close to this total (likely to be north of 330).

Branston Pickle 3,635 Posted June 15, 2019 It hasn’t been the best W Cup so far, what with few close games and a week of ropey weather; hopefully it’ll pick up starting tomorrow...
king canary 7,578 Posted June 15, 2019 Groups stage is too long in my opinion. If India win tomorrow it's pretty certain who the top 4 will be with still about half the group left.
Branston Pickle 3,635 Posted June 15, 2019 Yup - I reckon they should have had 12 teams (so two more via pre-qualification , likely 2 of Netherlands, Ireland or Scotland) split into two groups, followed by Quarter finals - a bit more compact as a tournament. Tomorrow should be a great occasion, even the Taliban will be watching! Edited June 15, 2019 by Van wink
keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted June 16, 2019 Anybody able to explain to me why we bowled Rashid through his overs when he looked a bit vulnerable to a team looking to increase the run rate. He bowled as many overs as Wood and Woakes did between them. I know they think he will bamboozle tail enders but quite clearly he wasn't at the time.
king canary 7,578 Posted June 16, 2019 Absolutely need Pakistan to win this to prevent a week of dead rubbers.
keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted June 16, 2019 dead rubbers. That is an old fashioned term. Haven't heard it for years. Can't see Pakistan winning though. India have wickets in hand and Rohit has scored more than Root now. They are quite happy to keep an eye on Amir and give the others a bit of tap.
