Ownership and investment

Recommended Posts

Not sure how many of you are aware of the Sheffield United ownership court case that is going on at the moment but its a real humdinger.  And now its been revealed that one of the joint owners borrowed money from the Bin Laden's.  https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/prince-used-bin-laden-family-cash-to-fund-sheffield-united-court-hears-53011

Given the amount of double dealing going on at Board level that is being revealed within the court room it is really a wonder Wilder got them promoted.  Perhaps that is why he got the LMA award!  And must surely make them favourites to come back down again, as this court case isn't going to solve any of the current ownership problems and thus provide the financial support for the squad promptly.

God bless Smith & Jones?

To my understanding the Bin Laden's are a prominent saudi family of quite vast wealth, they cut Osama's supply of funds when his extremism became apparent (allegedly) and that's why Al Qaeda got into bed with other more well funded groups and also started kidnapping Arab citizens as a means of fund raising.

Unless they borrowed the money off Al Qaeda itself?

It is a real mess up there, the ‘Bin Laden’ thing is just a headline grabbing detail but the wider ownership struggle is real.

This going on in the background does make Wilder’s achievements even more impressive - especially when he has no Sporting Director etc to act as a bridge between the footballing side and the board (where the joint owners won’t talk to each other).

You’d expect it will have a massive impact on their Premier League preparations.

They have intimate connections with the Saudi royal family and an estimated wealth of about $7 billion.

I don't think they ever had much contact with Osama! He seems to have taken his own path!

It's simply the Bin Laden name that causes such furore, but these guys are not involved in funding terrorism or anything like that. It's pretty crazy media madness to drum up readers and clicks.

Worked!

You'd have thought L1p5wich would have been the Bin Laden's club of choice.
