A couple of transfer rumours...

Recommended Posts

I think Dennis will be off on loan if these guys come in - I saw somewhere that Luton might be a possible, or Dordrecht.

I also saw that Rhodes has sorted stuff out at Sheff Wed and will sign on a free - no idea if that’s a goer.

We obviously have to have a keen eye on the squad rules re homegrown etc.

Even if we don't sign any more forwards, Srbeny would probably be hanging on by a thread. Claude-Maurice would certainly push him out the exit door.

I'm still very sceptical about this one though.

Maurice, or even Rhodes would push Big Dennis out. And certainly both would!

French report that Amadou has signed:

@ManuLonjon
"C’est bien signé ! Ibrahim Amadou ( FC Séville) est prêté avec OA à Norwich ! Officialisation dans la matinée."

Translated from French:
It's well signed! Ibrahim Amadou (Sevilla FC) is on loan with OA in Norwich! Formalization in the morning.

Believe this journo broke the initial story.

Spanish press running it too:

The officiality of Amadou, shortly #SevillaFC Y #NorwichCity sealed the early morning deal -> One million per assignment and 9.5 purchase option

If Amadou and Maurice sign, then I think this has been a brilliant window - every bit as good as I hoped it could be in all respects. My only concern, having seen him in the flesh, would be Heise.

Completely agree.

During one of the commentaries of the friendlies it was commented on as to whether someone who hardly played in the Championship is really likely to feature in the Premier League.

We have Cantwell who can play the same so that Sir Benny is playing and he offers a lot more.

From The Athletic's deadline day Q&A

Q: Any truth in Norwich reaching agreement with Sheff Weds for Rhodes?

Laurie Whitwell, 22m ago
A: Have just asked this question and told 'no chance', I'm afraid

How good is Amadou supposed to be and has anyone seen him play. I understand he was good in France but perhaps lost his way a little bit at Sevilla? Sevilla are a good side though. Just wondered what a sort of equivalent player in the premier league might be?

Most equivalent player I can think of is Kalvin Philips - Bielsa used Amadou the way he used Philips at Leeds.

Many will talk about Amadou's physical strengths, which he has many of, but he is also a tactically astute player with a decent passing range. He should suit Norwich's style more than Sevilla's and probably wasn't given much of a chance there to prove himself.

I will be very surprised (albeit pleasantly) if this Claude-Maurice agrees to join on a permanent. I can see someone hijacking the deal at the last minute.

Transfermarkt has Nampalys Mendy of Leicester listed as a comparable player, but I'm not entirely sure what parameters they use for this.

The fact that Sevilla reportedly paid €14m for him last summer and both Crystal Palace and West Ham allegedly had £16m bids for him turned down just six months earlier (causing Amadou to do a 'Peter Odemwingie' on deadline day by getting a train to London) shows that he has been valued very highly by several clubs in the past 18 months.

Just that DM we have been needing and wanting. Great work if all is completed and roll on.

The sooner he can be up to speed the better, if not against Liverpool then certainly building towards a starting place against Newcastle.

The new Sevilla manager plays 433, last year they played 4231 and the player made 32 appearances for them.

He previously played under Bielsa at Lille and had the Kalvin Phillips role and was Bielsa's captain- I'm not sure who his Premiership equivalent would be. But if he's on a par with Kalvin Phillips we should have cause to celebrate- assuming he's signed.

He's not so much lost his way at Sevilla exactly, its more a case that he doesn't fit their new 433 system- nonetheless the result is the same in that he needs to move to play.

Though his main position is DM, Amadou can also play at CB, which gives us that flexibity, like Godfrey being also capable of playing DM. If a CB is caught out of position, Amadou can drop back to cover (as Tettey has done on occasions). To add to that, Amadou is also capable of playing as a box to box CM, which suggests that we have a ball playing DM, who can also make long diagonal passes to attacking players in good positions. This seems to be the kind of movement and flexibility DF wants to establish throughout the squad.

I wish people would let it go, Godfrey is a CB, not a DM, if DF thought that was an option,  he'd have looked at it in pre season.

Alan Nixon confirming that a bid has been accepted for ACM. I suppose its just down to the player to decide now.

I think that is one of the best parts of this deal! We needed some defensive cover and flexibility
