There is not another forward player out there that ticks as many boxes as he does for those criteria.

At the right price Lakeyo, you have a very good point.

Rhodes for the right money makes perfect sense to me. I'd rather have him than Srbeny from what I saw yesterday. And I'd certainly fancy Rhodes way more than Srbeny to be in the right place to put away the sort of chances we were creating against Toulouse.

With Idah in the mix as well, we'd be well set for goals this season.

If you want Idah to play for Norwich this season, then wanting Norwich to sign Rhodes is a nonsense.

Stating the obvious, but what I want is for Norwich to do well. If Idah is part of that then great.

Having four striker options each adding something a little different is a good strategy to head into the campaign.

If pukki or Drmic got injured you could have Rhodes (if bought) and Idah on the bench.

Farke may decide to bring Idah, if either one is tiring, on maybe 70 mins, as he fits the workload a little better than Rhodes and if we were still trailing then bring on Rhodes in the 85th

I don't think it would stop Idahs chances as much as you may suggest but yes there would three senior strikers ahead of him. It is a squad game and Idah may have a great upside which may increase significantly with a great group of strikers in training.

But this discussion only happens if we start getting busy over the remaining few days.

I would be surprised if Rhodes was here next Friday without another midfielder.

Rhodes would probably take a wage cut to come here, but would still be an expensive backup to have on the books. Sheffield Wednesday will demand a fee too. Finally, his position in the squad has already been effectively covered with Drmic.

We currently only have one fit DM and 4 fit strikers. I also think our quality up front exceeds our quality of holding mids. Therefore I can't see our spare budget going on another striker.

I don't think it would stop Idahs chances at all and I would rather start this season with Jordan than without him

Interestingly (at least for me) I've noticed Kasey Palmer is starting for Bristol after signing on a permanent from Chelsea a few days ago.

He was linked reasonably strongly with us a few weeks ago, but I now suspect we were never really too interested.

The media have not had much of an insight into our dealings under Webber.

And Aarons was probably third choice right back going into his breakthrough season...

How, by signing Rhodes can it not affect Idah's opportunities.  By signing Rhodes, he would surely expect to be third in the queue behind Drmic.    (Not very ambitious on his part).    Of course it would affect Idah's opportunity.    There is little evidence to suggest Rhodes can add value on the pitch.    1, he won't get many games and 2, his career performances indicate a Championship level player.   Sounds like the spirit is very good so do we really need a changing room specialist.

I think people underestimate the value of Rhodes off the pitch. Idah and he would work well together in training, Rhodes the senior striker who can help Idah with his experience of the game - and his value behind the scenes generally, should not be underestimated.

Would Rhodes be happy being third or fourth choice?  I think he would, being at the club he wants to be at and having been part of the success last season.  He and Idah would be in competition with each other....and that is a good thing for Idah - he will have to keep doing well to even get a place in a cup match.

His chances may be limited if he comes back to us, but then you never know in football, but if he is needed, he will score in a team like ours, whatever the level.

I don't think I'd ever describe our fans as overrating Chris Martin.

No, fair enough but my mind went a bit blank. There are plenty of other academy players who didn't live up to the hype aren't there?

I'd be surprised if Rhodes came in at the expense of Idah, given that Webber has stated the club has a policy of promoting young players even if a more experienced option is available. In his recent outing for the under 23s Idah certainly had the look of a man who would rather have been with the first team squad. Is there room for both Rhodes and Idah behind Pukki and Drmic, along with Srbeny? I'm not so sure.

It was Gnagnon that made a dodgy tackle on a Liverpool player in pre season, can we have him in the side for Friday? 😉

With the team back from Germany, having won all the friendlies played to date, still facing against Granada (Friday, August 9, 9:00 p.m.) and Extremadura (Saturday, August 10, 9:00 p.m.) before LaLiga starts, Monchi tries to lighten up in terms of discards, leaving some of the men who have been in the exit ramp for weeks without any of them having found accommodation.

They are the case, for example, of the four players who have stayed in Seville and have not traveled with the team to the 'pre-season' stage in German lands: Roque Mesa, Guilherme Arana, Joris Gnagnon and Ibrahim Amadou, once Aleix Vidal will leave on loan to Alavés. And for this, the San Fernando hurries the transfer window of the Premier, which closes on Thursday, August 8.

In these last hours the contacts by the French Amadou and Gnagnon have gained strength, to which Sevilla FC has valued at ten million and between six and eight kilos, respectively. Quotes that have significantly hindered their departures, opening now (after Monchi rejected it in early summer) the possibility of going on a loan, which would make everything easier.

Among those interested, highlights a Norwich, recently promoted to the Premier, who has been interested in both sevillistas, currently discussing the possibilities of closing an assignment in which there could be some type of purchase option or obligation based on the performance of the players .

The Burnley, which last year saved the category in 15th place in the table, is another club that has shown interest in both, advancing further by the defender Joris Gnagnon.

Some operations that, according to the sources consulted by ESTADIO Deportivo, very close to the negotiation, currently have too many fringes to be cut, although enough visas, too, to be able to close in these last days of the market.

It should be remembered that in the case of Amadou, who arrived in exchange for 15 million (five more than what Sevilla FC intends to recover now), has been linked this summer with Saint-Étienne (already discarded), Getafe, Newcastle and some Bundesliga team, while Gnagnon has been moved by the French Ligue 1, where he still has a cartel. Dijon, Rennes, Girondins, Marseille or Lyon are some of the clubs with which there has been some kind of contact."

I do love translations - they also have an exit ramp, I rather like the idea that NO, Naismith et al have been sat on our exit ramp waiting to be picked up for the last couple of years...🙂

....still a domestic loan slot to be filled

....anyone care to draw up a list of possible candidates?.....any club with a surplus of defensive midfielders or defenders?

Leicester seem to have a few midfielders in their squad......Amarty,Mendy,Ndidi,Choudry?

....Is Drinkwater at Chelsea out of the question, lets face it if he doesnt move by Thursday, he wont kick a ball again until at least January.

...defender wise Calum Chambers and Timothy Fosu-Mensah seem perenial loanees.

.....there's always Harrison Reed at Southampton!?

....it would certainly be a shame to leave a domestic loan slot on the table, although it could yet be filled by Jordan Rhodes , I suppose?
