The Positive Brexit Thread

Total tosh as you well know. Think I'll take the advice of farmers, the NFU, and economists before I listen to a RWNJ who lives up Farage's backside.

It's strange that he thinks "fast food outlets" don't comprise some of the "hospitality sector" while also seemingly supporting the provision of "cheaper Australian meat" to feed children and the sick..

And now it looks like we will miss out on a player due to Brexit rules. Also worth noting players we would not have been able to sign under the new rules.

Unless something has changed (again) then the appeals process is available in the summer.

The general reporting of the new Brexit-fuelled rules has been muddled, to say the very least

According to CS it has changed.

Meyerhofer would only qualify for 13 points on the GBE system, falling two short of the necessary 15 required to be eligible for a work permit to play in England. The appeal system that was in place during the winter window doesn't apply in the summer.

He claims to run care homes, so feeding sub-standard slop and gruel to the unfortunate inmates is standard practice for him.

Originally, the appeals were only in place during the January window (which is why we got Soto back) but last I heard they'd decided to extend it so that they would also be possible during this upcoming window.

On the balance of probability, I'd wager it's more likely the article is wrong (and based off the original plan) rather than the extension being scrapped, which would be a double u-turn... (although stranger things have happened).

Unfortunately it has, you can’t appeal anymore according to the article.

That's my point!

I think it's more likely the article is wrong, and based on out-of-date information, than a double u-turn..

Swindon, did you notice that not one of the lefties tried to defend this. But then how could they, it's a total Labour f up?

1. LIE. Blair and Brown did not privatise the NHS. They allowed NHS patients to choose private hospitals for their treatment. In fact theTories first used private companies in 1989 for mental health. And dentistry for adults has been supplied by private dentists since the NHS began.

2. LIE. 7.3% of NHS services are provided as in 1. The rest is provided by catering and cleaning.

3. LIE. Hancock said he was writing of £13 Billion NHS debt. There actually was no debt. The money talked about was continuing payments between government agencies as part of the NHS supply chain.

4. DON'T KNOW. Searched the internet but nothing found.

5. LIE. Grenfell Tower was built in 1974 and refurbished between 2014 and 2016.

6. TRUE. Labour introduced tuition fees (£1000) in 1998.

7. LIE. Grants were abolished in 1976.

8. TRUE. The banks were bailed out. What fecking hell.did you want them to do?

9. TRUE. Labour introduced assessments and provided ESA payments for those unable to work. Something you Tories bang on about.

10. BIG LIE. Windrush checks started in 1973 and were made legal in 2012.

11. LIE. Zero hour contracts have been in use forever. In 1998, Labour introduced the Minimum wage and Working Time Directive which stipulated the those on Zero Hour contracts must be paid the minimum wage.

12. LIE. The so called bedroom tax was introduced in 2012 in the Welfare Reform Act.

13. TRUE. Because if you are in the club you abide by the majority. The treaty was supposed to streamline by centralisation. Hardly handing over powers.

14. TRUE. But nobody builds Council Homes anymore. Social homes are built by Housing Associations.

15. TRUE. The liar Tony Blair betrayed us all.

16. LIE. You are having a laugh aren't you. What was the debt before Covid😂😂

17. LIE. The conspiracy theory that is was a Labour plot to increase immigration has been debunked. Immigration was, as AJP Taylor referred, down to chance or what the market dictated.

Good try Tory boys. But your constant lying is something you will eventually come to regret

So what was the point of "taking back control"?

Bollox to the concept, it was to disenfranchise Parliament and to avoid off-shore corporations where Tory ministers and their mates hide their excess profits from any taxation wasn't it?

It was and always has been a right wing coup. Very cleverly persuading the people to hand over more power to a small group of people and their vested interests. It's never been about what is good for the people. A shame that so many good people have been turned over.

Yes. I expect Cummings to be able to back up at least some of what he says with evidence. To show that Johnson’s ‘handling’ of the pandemic was just what you would expect from an incompetent and immoral buffoon. But Johnson’s personal and professional lives have been unending sagas of incompetence and immorality. And still he fools voters into thinking he is at one and the same time a clever posh boy who is also a down to earth good bloke. Baffling but there it is. And from Johnson’s point of view the deeply flawed and arrogant Cummings is the best possible attacker. Rather in the way that for Trump the best possible opponent was Hillary Clinton.

Of course we are not going to tie ourselves to some socialist's idea of what corporation taxes should be. Madness. Watch as more companies move to the UK if this goes ahead.

The US Treasury is socialist organization. Well that’s a new one. Someone should tell the world banking community.

p.s taxes are paid on profits, not losses. Nobody is moving their business to the UK to lose money, irrespective of the effective tax rate. And lower corporate taxes only means lower pensions, NHS cuts, defense cuts. I’m sure you are just fine with all of that though..... we tried this in Texas v coastal states, didn’t work out to well - surprise!

In these sort of events I get the hope that people will finally see that the Emperor is stark bloody naked but then come the next weekend his poll ratings go up. I'm not sure how bad this man has to get for people to wake up but I get the inevitable and depressing feeling that Cummings testimony, with all the evidence available, will not be the alarm call. It'll be fun watching though.

Despite a 23.1% fall in total trade with European Union countries as a whole in the period, the EU remains the UK's biggest trading partner, the report found.

The figures also showed there was a jump in imports from China of textiles used for face masks and other personal protective equipment, as well as stronger demand for electrical devices.

utterly ignorant as usual. The establishment of global standards for minimal corporate taxation would be a massive step in ensuring that multinational corporations stop exploiting the resources of individual countries for their own private gain at the expense of their people. As it stands the likes of Amazon get to exploit a well educated and well cared for workforce, without contributing anything to the taxpayer funding essential to maintaining that workforce. Only an idiot and anti-patriot would want to turn the UK into a tax haven for billionaire corporate exploiters of its citizens. The fact that this Tory government is the only government out of the G7 to object to acting against this exploitation merely indicates their contempt for the people of this country.

It is also painfully ignorant to think the UK could set itself up as some shoddy tax-evading island and expect other countries not to respond with measures to mitigate against such an act. The concept of a "level playing field" is always fundamental to the possibility of negotiating free trade deals, so one can kiss goodbye to any such prospect if one seeks to undercut other countries in this way. Indeed, any school-child student of economics knows that the impostition of tariffs is precisely the sort of mechanism guaranteed to occur in such circumstances.
