Farage’s Shocking Prediction Proven CORRECT when he said 20,000 would make the illegal crossing into the UK

It's now reached 19, 593 !

Umm, 19593 is less than 20000

I'm not sure where Nige made that prediction, or what point you are trying to make with it. Or, since we have left the EU, what it has to do with brexit

It would be interesting to see how many came over pre and post brexit.

Maybe if we had stayed in the EU, none would be coming.

The **** was trying to explain Irish history to an Irish journalist. He got his backside a bit of a booting.

Yes  - I couldn't work out quite the point Swindon was making. Doubt he could either. Seems to me Brexit hasn't cured the 'illegal crossing' problem either. Quelle surprise.

Oh well. Nothing new there.

But your lot promised us that brexit would mean we could control our borders and bring an end to this problem. Were they lying?

I will explain if you you can sort out the mess the EU AND Poland are in.

Polish courts have said it's courts are above those of the European court of justice, whilst the EU say their court should be the top court

Quite simple!

Membership of the EU REQUIRES that every member country's justice system is independent of political interference from any particular government of the day. That requirement is a sine qua non that applies to ANY country that claims to be a DEMOCRACY (even in the UK, although  Raab wants to attack that principle). So, as a democracy the EU has stated correctly that the Polish government is in breach of the necessary and fundamental principle of the EU that it's government can NOT politically interfere with the independence of its judiciary and remain a genuinely democratic government within the EU.

Not very difficult to understand is it!

Now you can tell me why the control of our borders promised by brexiteers was just another lie.

And what happens when Poland do not take any notice of the European court of justice ?

They will be sanctioned and may have to leave, just like any other "club" when a member is found in breach of the rules. But I think you will find that the Polish government are well aware of the overwhwlming popularity of EU membership among its citizens, and it will find a way to back down or be voted out of power.

Now come on, you promised to explain why the brexiteers lied about taking control of our borders.

The sad fact is that all true democracies should be concerned about any interference of politicians in the judiciary. In Poland as elsewhere we should all be cheering the EU on holding them to account for this.

Only childish fools would try to score petty points otherwise as it would clearly indicate that they hold judicial independence of less importance than their hated of the EU. That way lies tyranny.

Indeed! It's what makes Raab's comments about "correcting" court judgements the government considers wrong so dreadfully sinister. It seems the so-called gain in sovereignty supposedly resulting from exit from the EU is nothing more than a disguise for the government to gain more power for itself over the people. Any government that interferes with the fundamental right of its citizens to pursue their rights and freedom through resort to an impartial judiciary independent of government, is on a path to dictatorship.

No one is getting in legitimately, there's always going to be the odd one (or 2000 !) who break the law

No country can say that they don't have any illegals in it

Oh dear! Yet another classic Swindo!

Here's the post-brexit border control story so far:

1. The government has had to offer tens of thousands of visas for foreigners to come into the country to fill desperately needed positions to enable the country to function without the constant calamities brexit has created. But because of brexit those foreign workers have so far told the government to fu*ck off, with the result that the catastrophies are predicted to continue upto and beyond xmas.

2. Numbers of illegal immigrants attempting to enter the country has considerably increased post-brexit. Perhaps you can try again with your estimate of the "odd one (or 2000)" and tell us what the real number is.

Now tell me again how that contitutes taking control of our borders for the good of the country.

All this talk about controlling immigration....here we are in a country whose government places more importance on "protecting" us from 50 people arriving on our shores in a dinghy but offering very little protection or change in policy to tackle 100+ a day dying from Covid.

Priorities.

I'm not sure what point you are making. England has had direct links to the Continent (UK is in Europe) and multiple harbours for centuries. There are ferry services, too. Mind you, it's jam tomorrow in Scotland as you say it's only promises and with all the free stuff now available across the border you have to ask where the money for new harbours is coming from. English tax-payers, perhaps?

My point is that Scotland needs direct links to the continent, not queues in Kent. The ferry services are in a dire state and the offer to build 30 for the same money Sturgeon wants to pay for 2 ferries sounds like an offer they can't refuse.

These can be of any size. https://www.seatransport.com/ferries/

Indeed! when we "NEED it" they told us to fu*ck off because of brexit. Hence we don't have the workers we NEED to enable the country to function properly. That is pretty much the definition of a shi*te immigration policy.

Just a reminder for Swindle, individuals arriving here and claiming assylum are NOT here illegally.
