Customs checks are part of the UK no longer being part of the EU. All the EU is doing is ensuring that the UK sticks to the agreement.

What would be your view if it was the EU breaking the agreed rules ?

Yes that's exactly what we had before brexit. You and others of your ilk voted for a hard brexit and therefore voted for the requirement of a customs border between the UK and EU. As has been ponted out ad nauseum, that border either had to be on the geographic border between Ireland and NI or in the Irish sea. This is entirely a problem created by brexit. 1. WE signed up to the deal containing the NI Protocol

2. To breach it would involve breaking international law

3. To breach it would destroy the Good Friday Agreement

"They're Irish, there have always been troubles" the Tories will do doubt soon be saying..... well ignoring the historical reasons why there were troubles in Northern Ireland in the first place, OK; but after years of violence a lot of hard work and multi-national co-operation those troubles were resolved.
