horsefly 4,300 Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) 23 minutes ago, Jools said: BREXIT WIN: US LIFTS TARIFFS ON UK SCOTCH, MACHINERY, CHEESE, AND PORK The US has suspended its UK tariffs as of today on goods from scotch whiskies, machinery, cashmere, and yes – cheese and pork. The suspension will last for four months, during which time the sides will negotiate a long term solution to the US-EU Boeing Airbus dispute. This is exclusively a US-UK deal, US tariffs remain on EU goods… Trade Secretary Liz Truss took a risk by unilaterally lifting UK tariffs to the US – which opposition parties heavily criticised her for – now the move has paid off. Guido understands that it was only as a consequence of good faith lifting UK tariffs that the US came to the negotiating table and lifted theirs too. Meanwhile the EU has sat on their hands and tariffs still apply to them… Clearly this sort of deal would be impossible as a member of the EU, trapped behind its common external tariff and sluggish commissioners. Read the Brexit-enabled UK-US joint statement here… More BS from the utterly discredited Guido sh*ite-site. So the US has maintained tariffs on the sale of scotch whiskey from the EU has it? Do remind us which countries in the EU manufacture scotch, I seem to have forgotten. Edited March 4, 2021 by horsefly

If you think falling onto our backs to let the US tickle our tummy is a great advance for our trading status then you truly are an idiot. Go and pre-heat your oven ready for the lovely chlorinated chicken and hormone marinated beef that will be heading your way soon. The EU and single market has the financial and numerical clout not to give in to US bullying, Truss is ever-so-grateful for whatever sub-standard crumbs they care to toss us. The EU had a contractual agreement for 80m vaccines with AZ back in August, which they paid for upfront in full. AZ failed to honour that contract.
