"The UK has recorded the worst death toll in Europe and the deepest economic contraction of any leading G7 nation from coronavirus.  It is preparing to leave the EU on December 31, and is yet to secure a future trade deal.

Sorrell, founder of the world's biggest advertising firm WPP and now head of digital and data ad group S4 Capital, said: 'We're going to be five to ten years before the economy fully recovers from the Brexit withdrawal and the industrial changes that will need to take place."

The American view on the trade deal

What Biden’s victory means for Brexit

Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom is in the final phases of trying to negotiate a post-Brexit trade agreement with the European Union, a complex challenge that just became more urgent with the defeat of his ally and ideological mate President Trump.
Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election may further strain the U.K.’s negotiations with Brussels. More failure would almost certainly reverberate badly in Ireland. Mr. Biden, who speaks often and fondly of his Irish roots, has already warned Mr. Johnson not to do anything in his trade negotiations that could threaten peace in Northern Ireland.
Mr. Johnson is on unsteady footing: Mr. Biden opposed Brexit, is unlikely to prioritize a trade deal with London and has ruled out such a deal altogether if Britain does anything to water down the protections of Northern Ireland that are enshrined in the withdrawal agreement. Mr. Johnson now must balance his determination to pressure Brussels with his desire not to antagonize Mr. Biden.
Quote: “The election completely changed the game,” said Mujtaba Rahman, an analyst at the Eurasia Group, a political risk consultancy.

The odious IRA sympathiser and Brexiteer Claire Fox demonstrates just how thick she is (and accordingly how representative she is of her fellow RWNJs):

The 25-minute conversation came amid concerns that Mr Biden's previously stated dislike of Brexit - which Mr Trump, by contrast, supported - could strain relations.

It's understood Mr Johnson and Mr Biden discussed the importance of implementing Brexit in a way that upholds the Good Friday Agreement.

Mr Johnson assured the President-elect that would be the case.

'Irish roots'

Mr Biden later spoke to Ireland's Taoiseach (PM) Micheál Martin, in what Mr Martin's aides described as a "warm conversation".

"President-elect Biden recalled his strong Irish roots and his visit to Ireland with his family in 2016," the Irish government said in a statement.

"The President-elect reaffirmed his full support for the Good Friday Agreement and they discussed the importance of a Brexit outcome that respects the Good Friday Agreement and ensures no return of a border on the island of Ireland."

"Boris Johnson eviscerated by Biden ally in brutal two-sentence comeback"

Is that the same Boris who Biden called first among European leaders?

Or did Biden think he was calling a Russian mate?

WBB Quote was very reasonable. No idiots there unlike elsewhere it would seem.

What is very certain is that Trump at least won't speak for America beyond January.

US - Biden: Make sure you have frictionless trade with your main trade partner and don’t start another civil war in your backyard.

Canada - Trudeau, “The UK hasn’t had to negotiate trade deals in the past few decades so there is an issue of not really having the bandwidth within government to move forward on this.

So what exactly is the point you are trying to make Swindon?

Now at least this is positive... a second entry for my Positive Brexit Outcomes note book.

If Cummings goes too I will be more than happy to add a third. He deserves his own entry.

“We’re there for it. We’d like to do it,” Trudeau said.

I would still like to know what we actually get out of EU membership. We import twice as much as we export there. They demand they are allowed to overfish our waters. We have to accept free movement of EU citizens and pay them benefits for their families back home. They take our businesses by offering them money to relocate to take advantage of cheap labour. We have to follow their laws. We are not allowed to strike our own trade deals, we have to pay tariffs on goods to protect their internal market etc etc and pay a staggering 10 thousand million pounds every year for the privilege. But what do we actually get from Europe in return. Something tangible that we can say thank you EU thats brilliant, you know, something that benefits us for once and something we cant get from elsewhere in the world !

What is your problem ? You are like a stalker following me all over the message board ? Why would you think I am an idiot ? Had you said the man ( or woman ) who made the quote was an idiot, then that’s fair enough as I didn’t make up the quote. If you have different views that’s fine, but don’t try to be brave behind a computer and call people names, that’s childish.

I suspect nobody else is responding to him, I blocked him ages ago and I recommend doing that to avoid feeling the need to reply to his bilge and bile. I'm quite happy to respond to opponents who put forward an argument but this guy never bothers to do that. Probably shouldn't be surprised, since this is the individual who insisted that the Nazis were left wing because their name included "Socialist" (The laugh out loud moment of the year).

Project Fear, Scaremongering, is what you lot believe !

I'm fairly sure Swindon there will now be a deal. It may not be the kind you wanted when you voted for Brexit though. The Ireland problem will reverberate for years I fear and our so-called gains at 'taking back control' will prove as empty as the slogan. Losing freedom to move and live across the EU will be a major loss for not just ourselves but our children and their children. Not 'project fear' at all....but stone cold common sense I'm afraid.

Brexsh*t going so well:

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/canada-s-justin-trudeau-says-trade-deal-with-uk-may-not-be-done/ar-BB1aWnwC?ocid=msedgntp

Canada’s Justin Trudeau says trade deal with UK may not be done

Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau has cast doubt over the UK securing a trade deal with his country by the 31 December Brexit deadline necessary to avoid punitive tariffs.

Mr Trudeau said Britain was struggling to conclude an agreement rolling over the terms of the existing EU-Canada deal, and suggested that London does not have “the bandwidth” to get it done on time.

Canada is the largest of 15 EU deals which international trade secretary Liz Truss has yet to roll over, with less than 50 days to go until the UK transitions out of the EU single market and customs union.

Transition will also mean the UK falling out of all free trade agreements which it enjoyed as a member of the EU, moving onto lowest common denominator World Trade Organisation terms for any which are not rolled over in time.

Trade experts told The Independent that failure to complete the rollovers could disrupt as much as £80bn worth of imports and exports through the imposition of tariffs and quotas.

Canada is the UK’s fifth biggest bilateral trade partner, with exports totalling £10.7bn in 2018/19.

I can't believe that Brexsh*t loons still throw out the "project fear" slogan whenever they can't answer an argument or deny the evidence of its impending disaster. It was a slogan deceitfully developed to win the referendum, that's been done you buffoons so it's no longer relevant.

I expect they tell their children (more likely grandchildren) to ignore teacher's advice to look both ways crossing the road as it's nothing more than PROJECT FEAR mind control.
